Mari Mari Jay Sarir

It is a poetry collection by Yojana Yadav , Marathi poet . Reading Yojana’s poetry one can fathom the depth of her writing which has deep roots in her strong belief in women liberation which she has breathed as an individual and as a writer. An individual’s journey towards freedom and liberation breaking chains of mores and values imbibed on minds of masses cannot correspond with the change that occurs at snail’s pace in a society. The result is obvious conflict and tug-of-war between the enlightened and empowered individual and the society that prefers stagnancy. The reverberations and connotations of this skirmish reflect in sensitive mind and if the expression is in form of poetry, it is obvious that one finds these reflections all over in writing, which is the case with Yojana’s poetry. When one locks horns with the system which is socially accepted hierarchal structural oppression, it is predictable that an individual will be isolated and dejected. But a strong mind is not exasperated and faces the storm bravely. One can sense this in Yojana’s poems. And probably this is why notwithstanding with gloomy tone in the beginning, her poetry ascends towards brightness. It is apparent that romanticism peeps into her words but then, this romanticism does not dwells in dreams leading to illusion of bliss, but is piercing and fiery indication of a revolt. However, this poetry does not take form of propaganda of women liberation, and sticks to its contemporary individualistic form. http://www.mehtapublishinghouse.com/book-details/Mari-Mari-Jay-Sarir/1949.aspx
