'Tis the truth, but...

But is it befitting of a wiki article? Mmm, probably not hey. By the way, who is this? I have a pretty good idea, one of two people... Cheers, Haddo ABVS1936 13:34, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

As you keep removing that reference, could you make sure it's copied below, otherwise the second time it's used will produce no citation. Many thanks, SlimVirgin (talk) 11:42, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

It's used twice, so if you're going to keep removing the first one, you'll have to find the second and enter it. SlimVirgin (talk) 11:54, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi Yeti Hunter, I've partially reverted your edit regarding the status of water supply from the torrens. According to SA Water, The river torrens system forms part of the Adelaide hills catchement that supplies 125,000ML annually to adelaide. I've change the wording though from "Large part" to "significant part" as, at least in the last few years, Adelaide seems to have moved to a dependance on the River Murray. Would you have the time to look through the rest of the article for more grammer/spelling errors as I'm usually bad at this ?. Happy editing- Peripitus (Talk) 01:43, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks in advance - one thing I've not got hold of yet is good information on what amount adelaide draws from the river... SA water only lists the whole hills (in places I've looked). The "Water supply" section finishes in the 1800s as I havn't yet picked up a book that covers this century ! - Peripitus (Talk) 11:52, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
thanks for the edit - the lead reads much better now ! - Peripitus (Talk) 02:46, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Edit warriors!

i honestly just don't get ZG's vehemence... or some of the opinions held by the two of you. Do you really think its a massive conspiracy to advertise? WookMuff 15:54, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, i don't want to fight about it either, as I believe i have said before, you are a good editor. I just think that the link is relevant, regardless of whether the overwhelming majority of people searching for Halo 3 are after the game. Just because something is less popular doesn't make it unimportant or unnotable. Also, I feel that ZG is a dick and was just trying to make himself feel big, with stupid examples of the godlike importance of himself and Joe Pesci. But yeah, it was mostly because I don't think that wikipedia is a popularity contest. That is also why I kept changing fall to 4rd quarter, though I have given up on that. Stupid Amerigocentric world view. WookMuff 01:31, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

MATS

I was quite interested in MATS a while ago and spent several visits at the State Library writing notes and drawing diagrams into a notebook! I cannot find where the notebook is, so have not added anything else to the article of late. My sources are listed at the bottom of my draft.

If you want to help, or even just to finish the article, go the State Library and request the MATS plan itself (Report on Metropolitan Adelaide Transportation Study (1968). De Leuw, Cather and Company, Rankine and Hill [and] Alan M. Voorhees and Associates). If you're mildly interested in this kind of thing, seeing the actual plan and flipping through the statistics and diagrams will blow your mind. The second best reference to use is the book by Donovan.

As for selling off the freeway land, Dunstan did not do it, but his government did halt freeway development and rename the corridors to "transport corridors" (expecting that they'd be used for public transport instead). The first of the corridors were sold off by Tonkin, and then Bannon nailed MATS's coffin shut when he sold the land required for the North-South (Salisbury and Noarlunga) Freeway. michael talk 11:52, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

You could ask him the details, but Dunstan halted the plan, Tonkin slaughtered most of it, and Bannon only got rid of the final remaining corridor. This is all detailed in a number of books, such as The Bannon Decade (I think). If you're on speaking terms with the bloke, grab us a PD picture for his article! :) Michael talk 14:28, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

AB (food)

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article AB (food), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but yours may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.

For some reason this guy reckons he's awesome, so let's put him in his place. Ready. Set. Go! BTW, we all set for sometime in August/September? ABVS1936 17:09, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Yeah I had a similar problem with the lacrosse club article. The ony trouble was it got merged with the Sports Association article which then got turned into a Sport at the University of Adelaide article. It seems like having a Nobel prize winner, 5 Rhodes Scholars and 5 A grade premierships plus lots of Australian national team members is not good enough (as well as being 120 years old). Sometimes W/P can be a very harsh place. Ozdaren 12:23, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

I was actually in the middle of adding references when you made your change. My references were a bit more wide spread, though yours from the rowing history website will suffice. Thanks for picking up the need for references. Ozdaren 04:17, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

'kenoath we should nom. for GA

I'm sure I could chase up most of that stuff, it's just getting in to the Archives to find enough "reliable, independant, NPOV" sources. Plenty of pics of St. Mark, Downer, Newland, Lodge and Walkley even, as all those buildings are (I think) on the Historic register - I'll confirm that after I'm done with Uni and assignments. We need an independant contributor to remove some more "cruft", as we are unable to indentify and scrub it out, we aren't independant enough. Website sources could be replaced with references from newsletters, newspapers etc. Other details really should be academic - plenty to use for Rhodes Scholars and women being admitted. Will look into it. Meanwhile, lets get this AfD template off the page. ABVS1936 12:44, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Ahh that's fair enough I guess. I'd say there is every possibility it someone from there anyway. But let's play it sensible and mature first. I'm happy to edit all the SAAUCC College pages to improve the content of wikipedia, as long as it is unbiased and reliable. Do you reckon you could find some more details about the Gassie in the media? Like pics from the Advertiser from Prosh? I'm sure they're in the Archives, but if you know where else to find them it could make it easier. ABVS1936 12:59, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Nice one, I've started playing around with an info box for Mark's, follow the links to my sandbox on my user page if you want to have a look. I'll look for an alt. logo tonight too, something larger and a bit higher quality. Lincoln should have a request for fair use on their image too if you care to have a look. ABVS1936 13:21, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
You are correct, sir. My mistake. Will find a good logo tonight hopefully, will call Matty Jude and see if he can get me one from the website resources or something. ABVS1936 11:59, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
The only one I have isn't the real logo, just the GA one for use on certificates etc. Still looking for a real one, only have that small, low quality one that's all ready here. Will speak with Julie or Ann tomorrow and see what they can do. ABVS1936 09:21, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
Got one from Julie, just waiting for her to email it to me. Should be done by this arvo. Meanwhile, check the image page for the current logo. Up to his old tricks again, is nought... ABVS1936 00:58, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Check the page now. Image is scaled down in the info box, real image is large than the one I uploaded too. It's in .png format to take advantage of the transperance. Enjoy, I can email the original to you if you want too. ABVS1936 02:31, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Excuse me.

I don't appreciate you making personal attacks directed at me via edit summaries or any other means. Perhaps you should spend more time reading policy and less time being a WP:DICK. If you disagree with my methods man up and say something instead of resorting to cheap shots because you can't be articulate or bother to make your point. You might also want to look up a little thing called the typo. Sometimes people type quickly and when you deal with dyslexia it tends to make you miss a letter here or there. --Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 23:03, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair call mate, I guess it was an ill-concieved attempt at humour in a silly edit war. Sorry. My reasons for reverting were that the consensus is far from clear on the talk page at the moment, and to claim that "the debate is over" is simply wrong. Let's let a few more editors have their say. And I will engage brain before typing in future.--Yeti Hunter 23:09, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Thank you, we all have bad days. Perhaps I could have been clearer though. I was not so much referring to a state of consensus as I was the process of acheiving consensus. As I recall wikipedia generally the guidelines/policies encourage that when something is under dispute, omission is better than inclusion for the sake of caution, and I was operating under that intention more than anything. I am neither for or against spoiler tags. Some articles should probably have them, others probably shouldn't, I leave it up to the discussion of those who are regular participants in either the overal spoiler issue or the pages affected. --Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 01:22, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

I disagree with your revert of the material on the St Marks page. I am completely neutral in the situation and that event would clearly be notable in the history of the school. I do now see that it is only claims, i think it could be used in the article, but it has too much weight, maybe two sentences or so about it would be more appropriate. St Marks

Ive re-written the information on the murder situation for the St Marks article, here is my proposed revision:

In 1991, Alister Thompson strangled fellow student Allison Nitschke, in her bedroom at the college, her body was found in the Adelaide Hills and Thompson was sentenced to 18 years prison.[1][2][3]

Ive tried to improve the prose, and basically make it as short and comprehensive as possible. Would you agree to posting this into the article? (please reply to my talk, i have emailed all involved in the discussion). Twenty Years 15:18, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Please have a look at the above mentioned page and tell me if you think a speedy deletion is required on the gounds that a) it is not notable in its own right; and b) it has no context, no content and no indication of importance. I just think this is starting to get ridiculous. ABVS1936 09:10, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Wikimedia Australia incorporation meeting

Hi there Yeti Hunter! As you may know, the Wikimedia Foundation has recently approved Wikimedia Australia as an official chapter. In order to acknowledge this, and to appoint an interim committee, approve our statement of purpose and our rules, and appoint a Public Officer, Wikimedia Australia will be having a meeting at Computerbank in Melbourne. For those of us who are located in other cities, we shall be holding conference calls to the main meeting.

The meeting will be held at 2:30PM on Sunday, 20th April 2008, Adelaide time. In order for us to organise this meeting, we need your help! Please drop by at our meta subpage with suggestions as to venues, conference calling services, etc. It will be at 2:30 so we can meet up for lunch beforehand if anyone's open for that!

Hoping to see you there! ~ Riana 01:56, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

You are receiving this message because you are an active Wikimedian in Adelaide and are on this list. If you think I've missed anyone out, please feel free to copy-paste this and send it to them too!
