Mastercard Foundation

Hi - I wanted to give you some quick feedback about the article changes.

Make sure that you are neutral in your writing, as "is funded by the company's generosity independent of executive interests" doesn't come across neutrally and can sound like press marketing speech, even if unintentionally. Be careful of buzzwords like "conceptualized" as well for the same reason since they're usually added to press materials to make an person, organization, etc sound more exciting and enticing in whatever the press release is describing. A better way to phrase this may be: (you can use this if you wish, of course!)

Mastercard Foundation is an independent global foundation that was launched in 2006. It is funded by MasterCard and operates independently from the company, with no MasterCard executives operating on the board of directors."

Be cautious of sourcing. For example, Devex is a media platform where organizations can sign up for their services. It looks like they give the basic profile for free, however at the same time they will also ply them with various services that will make them look even better than a basic profile would. An organization as large as this one would be guaranteed to have signed up for these extra services. What this means is that anything published by them should be taken with a grain of salt, since they've gone through the marketing machine and have been polished and preened to look extra good. It doesn't mean that it's unusable per se, just that if there's a better, non-primary source out there that makes the same claim, it would be preferable to use that.

Finally, when adding citations you can do it of two ways: dropping a URL, ISBN, or DOI into the citation field on VisualEditor (some info on this here and in the sourcing module) or by adding it manually in source mode by clicking the cite tab and selecting the applicable type, then filling out the fields. You can also add it in source mode by writing out a full citation and surrounding it with reference tags, like this:

<ref>Estes, Todd (2000). "Shaping the Politics of Public Opinion: Federalists and the Jay Treaty Debate". Journal of the Early Republic. 20 (3): 393. doi:10.2307/3125063. JSTOR 3125063.</ref>

I hope that this helps! Let me know on my talk page if you have any questions! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:57, 20 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
