Just to say thank you for your help dealing with my opposition to the merger proposal for Bispham High School Arts College which linked into the Portsmouth and Southampton merger proposals simply because the proposer (who appears to have been using these merger proposals to make a point rather than discussing them anywhere) chose the school seemingly at random after they saw it mentioned on the Wikipedia Schools project talk page. Not being sure what to do about this, your help in supporting my opposition to the merger and removal of the tag has been really useful, and much appreciated. ♦Tangerines BFC ♦·Talk 15:04, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

You are welcome; it is a shame that Bispham High School Arts College got caught in the crossfire. I know how difficult it is to put together an acceptably cited entry for a school, especially one with a short history, having spent the best part of a day on Admiral Lord Nelson School (Portsmouth) back when the Portsmouth nonsense first started.

I must say the infobox and logo make the page look very professional, I must do the same later in the week.

My contributions to the article have been mostly cosmetic or largely focused on the Notable people section. I haven't lived in England for four years, and I'm not all that knowledgeable about the inner workings of the town itself; I just keep an eye on the article for vandalism purposes. There's no limit to the number of images you can add to an article (unless the fair-use criteria states so, which is the case with screenshots). You can always add a gallery (<gallery> ... </gallery>) section to an article (see here). What did you have in mind? - Dudesleeper · Talk 22:10, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

But, I am pretty much into ultra cultur myself, and I have absolutely no idea who that guy is, or have I ever seen his image on football matches(maybe I have but didn't pay attention to it). Personally I dont see the problem with Oxford Speedway. It says official site after it and is a direct link. Its a little pedantic. More constructive putting up new articles up than worrying about a link ! Nearly finshed finishing the CL section.

Thanks for your corrections and notes. Where did you get the ISBN from? It references the right book when searched for, but the search pages list the same ISBN I have in my copy (0570-27118-9).

The history I have added is a short summary from several chapters of the book - I plan to add some more when I get round to it.

Firstly, sorry if I offended you on the other page. Us Aussie football fans, being so outweighed by the other codes and constantly battered by the media, have developed a quite infamous insecurity that leads us to think the rest of the world is out to get us. We get so sick of hearing about Andrew Johns being the greatest footballer ever that we just have an automatic distrust of anyone who knocks us.

I agree that you're right about Loko Cove not being all that notable in terms of very strict wiki definitions, but really (as I'm sure you've seen from that page) it is a huge step forward for our football community and to put it into perspective, Loko Cove would have had, in one year, more media coverage than 90% of teams got in a season of the old National Soccer League.

Sorry again for having a go at you, hope you realise that we're just all football lovers crying out to be heard.

Also thanks a heap for the help and the hints, sadly I don't do a whole lot of work on here, I only make little alterations here and there to grammar and stuff.

I'm always unsure whether to tag non-notable articles with a {{subst:prod}} (proposed deletion) or a {{db}} (speedy deletion), but recently I've just been using the latter, since an admin has the final call on the matter. Whichever tag you use, just add your reason for why it should be deleted after a divider ({{db|Reason here}}, for example.

Today I've developed the Tibet article significantly -I have to admit I hate the PRC section it is so poorly written and unconcise because of all the heavy handed interference from our friends in the east. 1950-present is going to need a complete and I mean complete!!! rewrite and we must try to get some kind of protection from new users who are undermining it. They seem to think it is a forum for Tibet's inclusion in China. Then we need to think about condensing it a bit. I have also done much work on counties by adding tenmplates and have also creates articles on Tibetan festivals and the Tibetan National Anthem! Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. I am intrigued by your comment that Argentines is to be preferred "as per what Argentines call themselves". What Argentines/Argentinians call themselves is argentinos/argentinas, and when they are speaking English they will use whichever English word they have been taught. The locical extension of what you seem to be suggesting is to call Spaniards Espanoles. There is discussion, although it never really reached a conclusion, on the talk page about this issue, and those adjectives had been left for nearly 4 months after that discussion. Unless you have irrevocable evidence that only one of the adjectives/demonyms can be correct, it seems reasonable that a mixture remain. Good work otherwise on the article. I cannot consider a conversation that you have had with one person from Argentina as canonical. It is not necessarily wise to take a snapshot of a Wiki page as an authoritative statement on linguistic style, but if you consider that valid, is there any reason to prefer the content of Argentina over that of List of adjectival forms of place names? I made statements directed at a prejudiced establishment, that skews English identity to their narrow-minded favour. TharkunColl took offense that I even said anything, but I was only complaining about stereotypes I am forced to live with per my English identity. He bashed me for criticising aristocratic politicians, on the basis that I was not English. Hence, he was insulting me. I don't want to fit the mold of certain English stereotypes, so nothing TharkunColl says will matter. He is bigoted for asserting that I must fit stereotypes to be English. Also, he considers me American, just because I am posting from America. I don't like being taken at face value--prejudice is what I've been fighting my entire time on the talk page. You cast doubts that clubs like Great Harwood Town, Haslingden and Netherfield should be included on the list of West Lancashire League clubs that progressed to better things.

Great Harwood Town were originally known as Harwood Wellington, and under this name were West Lancashire League Division Two Champions in 1977-78 (cross reference Great Harwood Town and West Lancashire League articles).

Haslingden were West Lancashire League Division Two Champions in 1980-81, and were North West Counties League Division Two Champions in 1993-94 (cross reference West Lancashire League and North West Counties League articles).

Netherfield played in the West Lancashire League from 1936-37 to 1938-39 (see Kendal Town official website http://www.kendaltownfc.co.uk/archives/seasonbyseason.html).

Thanks for the comments about the West Lancashire League article. Actually it was my intention to add more information to the new section on clubs progressing from the league - eg. the year they left, where they went, etc. I may still do this. I presume you are aware that a nation is a group of people and not a division of land? The "poll" is there as a contemporary and common usage of describing the British as a nation - something you seem to be reverting despite the citation. British people and Britons are interchangable terms.

I'm going to do an awful lot of reading in the next few weeks to improve some of our "British" articles, as many of them are very compromised. El.Bastardo 23:15, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

I have to agree with this user also. A nation is a group of people - English people are a nation, just as British people are. If this contracts with a source you have on what a Briton is, then you need to supply it and then we'll have a re-word. Jza 15:48, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

I also agree (having just contacted that user!) with you on the British nationalism article. From my personal experience (from Oldham!), English nationalism has always been more hardline than British nationalism. The article seems to be missing context on historic viewpoints on this (Victorian, Unionist and wartime nationalism - which I view as much less right wing!). The problem is not resolved with the "in use" tag because the problem is not a edit conflict, it's that is a Wikipedia policy to avoid doing many edits in a short time when not needed. Eery time a edit is made, it takes resources from wikipedia servers. Therefore, editing "live" creates an amount of edits that aren't really needed. As stated in Wikipedia:Editor assistance/Requests, "Wikipedia is not a live journal/blog", "the article about the event should be written after the event is over and done with", "Wikipedia is not intended to be a real-time journal of events" and so. Apologies for causing a disturbance there, but I was under the impression that colour used in group boxes for teams qualifying by right of the third-placed "compare-off", so to speak, is a yellowy colour, which I can't remember the hex for but could look up. While I admit that I was hasty in my description of my edit, and when I made the edit, I hadn't yet realised about the third-place part (I remembered it just as the edit was being processed), still we don't know that Mexico will qualify outright in 1st or 2nd, vis a vis we don't know whether we should use green or yellow. In such a circumstance, I thought it more practical and orderly to leave the colour blank until we actually know where they finish. Falastur2 00:38, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the speedy reply. My point was not so much that we don't know Mexico are through - I acknowledge that they are. It's that, being the kind of guy who spends his life on Wiki as a code-monkey, I am under the impression that the established practise for competitions with such a situation, as regards third-placed teams in the groups, the correct colour in the boxes is a yellow colour, which you can see the basic idea of here. Looking around again, it seems that this idea has fallen out of practise, but I'm continually behind the times, and I probably made my choice out of personal preference (I'm very precise and petty with my execution of detail, and I prefer the ability to see exactly what the situation is clearly and concisely - hence why I spend all my time fixing infoboxes and match result tables, I guess - and that leads me to like to know who had to go through to third-placed play-offs in a single glance, rather than getting confused for a while when I see that some groups had more qualified teams than others, etc etc. My point was simply that since we didn't know that Mexico had qualified in 1st/2nd, we couldn't be sure we wouldn't be using that creamy-yellow colour for them instead. However, as I said above, taking a closer look at other articles, I now see that using green for thśem anyway is the standard practise, so any objection I might have had, I withdraw. Hope that you now understand what motivated me to make the comment above (it probably wasn't necessary to explain myself so, but I didn't want you thinking I was being foolish or dumb or anything ;) Thanks for your time, anyway; hopefully I won't make any stupid mistakes like that again.
