Raster version of Twyman-Green Interferometer SVG graphic

Thanks for letting me know about the Bugzilla reporting system. I've had at least two distinct issues with SVG files, (1) the font spacing problem that led me to create a raster image that you noticed, and (2) big black rectangles appearing out of nowhere, or sometimes (3) both at the same time. I don't know for sure if it is Wikipedia's rendering software, or maybe Inkscape is doing something non-standard. Yesterday, I had an image speedy deleted within several minutes of my uploading it, because it had a black rectangle appearing out of nowhere. I suppose that I should re-upload that deleted image so that the developers will have something to look at. Anyhow, I'll put together a bug report after I finish my edit to Interferometry that uses the graphic. Stigmatella aurantiaca (talk) 18:11, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

G7

Curious how you saw this as G7. - jc37 06:20, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

A single user added a template to that page, then removed it again, leaving the page blank. It wasn't used for talk-related stuff at all. [stwalkerster|talk] 08:18, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
Perhaps, but the "single user" in question doesn't appear to be the one who requested? And if not, it's not G7, I presume?
(Not that the deletion in this case is a big deal, but the rationale for deletion seemed odd.) - jc37 01:10, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, G7 includes the phrase " If the sole author blanks a page other than a userspace page or category page, this can be taken as a deletion request.". The adding of the G7 tag was only drawing attention to it. [stwalkerster|talk] 01:16, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Fair enough. Just looked odd to me. Thanks for clarifying : ) -jc37 01:19, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Deletion of Wiki page Larry Ciancia

stwalkerster,

Why was the page Larry Ciancia deleted so quickly as I was just setting it up? And how do I now get it to be unblocked so I can set this page up properly?

thanks, larry — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lazaearth (talkcontribs) 06:58, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi Larry!
It was deleted because it was an article about a real person that did not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and appeared to only contain a timeline of what appears to be a list of music. The article needs to say why the subject is notable, and reference the claim of notability with reliable secondary sources such as news articles.
I've noticed you appear to have the same name as the subject of the article - are you writing about yourself? If so, you may find it extremely hard to write with a neutral point of view due to a conflict of interests - it's best to let other people write about subjects which you are closely related with, including yourself.
If you wish, I can move the deleted article into your userspace so you can work in it in a personal sandbox area, before it enters the main article namespace, just let me know. :)
[stwalkerster|talk] 01:36, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
That would be great. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lazaearth (talkcontribs) 19:52, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Done. It can be found at User:Lazaearth/Larry Ciancia. Just add {{submit}} to the top when you want to move it back to the main space :) [stwalkerster|talk] 20:02, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Regaining ACC access

Hi there. I used to be an active user on both Wikipedia and the ACC tool but had to stop for a significant time due to other personal commitments. Would it be possible to regain access to the tool as I'm active again?

Kind regards

Regards, --—Cyclonenim | Chat  19:15, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi! Unfortunately, due to recent changes requested by the Foundation, you'll need to submit identification to the Foundation before your ACC account will be re-enabled. Relevant info is here and here. Let me know what you want to do, if you're willing to ID or not. With this requirement we did lose a fair number of ACC users who were unable or unwilling to ID. Hope to see you back on in no time though! :) [stwalkerster|talk] 01:46, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Hi :) No problem, I'm not afraid to send off a copy of my passport. I'm a UK citizen though I assume that won't be an issue? I don't have immediate access to a photocopier, mind, so would a camera copy do? If not I'll try and find somewhere to photocopy ASAP. Regards, --—Cyclonenim | Chat  11:46, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm UK too, passport should be fine. I used my driving licence card, a digital scan of it, I don't see how a camera copy would cause problems, as long as name and DOB were visible. There's quite a bit of info on meta about it, since ID is required for CU, OS, OTRS, stewardship, and ACC now. :) [stwalkerster|talk] 14:19, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Alright then, I'll follow the steps that you linked me to. Do I just come back to you when they confirm they have me on record? Regards, --—Cyclonenim | Chat  18:48, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Scrap that, they've replied and I'm supposedly "all set"! Where do we go fro here? Regards, --—Cyclonenim | Chat  19:09, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
 Done. You can login at https://toolserver.org/~acc/acc.php . Welcome back :) [stwalkerster|talk] 19:57, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Many thanks, it's good to be back! Regards, --—Cyclonenim | Chat  20:56, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

ConfirmAccount extension

Hey :). You're being contacted because you are involved in the ACC process, or participated in the original discussion in '08 about the ConfirmAccount extension. This is a note to let you know that we are seeking opinions on switching this extension on, effectively making the ACC process via the Toolserver redundant. You can read all the details here; I would be very grateful if people would indicate how they feel about the idea :). Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 13:21, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

How the 'Drop' command works in ACC

Hello Simon. Will 'Drop' close the account request and not send any mail back to the requester? That's what I might want to do if I had checked with them directly by email and created an account for them 'offline.' Possibly a different name than the one they asked for originally through ACC. EdJohnston (talk) 22:29, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Yes, it will. :) [stwalkerster|talk] 22:36, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Abuse Filter on the Article Feedback Tool

Hey there :). You're being contacted because you're an edit filter manager, At the moment, we're developing Version 5 of the Article Feedback Tool, which you may or may not have heard about. If you haven't; for the first time, this will involve a free-text box where readers can submit comments :). Obviously, there's going to be junk, and we want to minimise that junk. To do so, we're working the Abuse Filter into the tool.

For this to work, we need people to write and maintain filters. I'd be very grateful if you could take a look at the discussion here and the attached docs, and comment and contribute! Thanks :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 18:32, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

thanks for your fine work at

The Thinker. I sort of freak out when I run into vandalism in real time and it is nice to have someone involved who can do what needs to be done. Life is good. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 14:46, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
