Speedy deletion of Two bullet parade

A tag has been placed on Two bullet parade requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Your talk page comments

Hello. I noticed by your comments at Talk:Two bullet parade that you appear to be unsure about why your article was deleted. The reason is because we have guidelines about what bands should be included, these can be found at WP:BAND. If the band does not meet the criteria, an article on it will eventually get deleted. Also, if you have a conflict of interest and are associated with the subject of the article, you should probably refrain from editing or creating the article. I'll also note that I have marked the talk page above for speedy deletion as a talk page without an article, but since the talk page was created after the page was deleted, I wanted to make sure that you understood why they were deleted. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me, and I'll do my best to answer. Cheers! Apparition11|Complaints/Mistakes 05:41, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Two bullet parade

A tag has been placed on Two bullet parade requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

I was told to find and report WHAT Music requirements this band page meets:

"Notability is met if the musician has been the subject of a broadcast by a media network."

Band played at the CMA Fan Fair 2008 Went to Afghanistan to perform for the Canadian troops Covered and interviewed by Guitar Player magazine Members were formerly of band The Moffatts

"Has received non-trivial coverage in a reliable source of an international concert tour"

Again, went to Afghanistan with the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency for a 3 week tour in Afghanistan. Dubai, Kandahar and many other bases.

"Contains at least one notable musician;"

Clint Moffatt and Bob Moffatt of the brother group The Moffatts

"Has won or been nominated for a major music award, such as a Grammy, Juno, Mercury, Choice or Grammis award."

As The Moffatts, they both were nominated and hosted the Juno's

"Has credit for writing or co-writing either lyrics or music for a notable composition"

Does having 17 albums under your belt count?

"Has composed a number of melodies, tunes or standards used in a notable genre"

Has had songs used on the Teaching Mrs Tingle and Never Been Kissed movie soundtracks

By the way, it also keeps saying that I am steeling what was written on the WBA Entertainment webpage. As I am the original writer, how am I stealing it?

Can I write my page now?

Unsourced Material Is Removed

Hi. Since nobody else has responded to your questions, I'll take a stab at it. This new information would seem to more than adequately cover the requirements for notability, but the sources need to be included in order to avoid future deletion notices. Also, there are guidelines regarding editors creating pages for themselves, their bands, or the organizations for which they work WP:COI. I would be willing to partner with you on the article, if it will help to get it accepted, provided the references provided are verifiable. When you have a chance, list the sources on the article talk page for at least 2 of the claims:

  • Hosted/nominated Junos: should be available on the web, as a list of nominees by year, perhaps even on Wikipedia. copy the web address and use it as a source.
  • Appeared in Guitar magazine: surely you have a copy lying around you can use to reference.
  • Notable melodies: websites showing a track listing for these soundtracks would probably suffice.

As soon as you can provide this, let me know. I'll try to keep the page alive until you can finish it. Paraphrasing copyrighted material isn't that difficult, especially since you were the source. Best regards. --OliverTwisted (Talk) (Stuff) 06:32, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(Edit Conflict) Well, I was going to say a lot of what OliverTwisted said, but he beat me to it :) So, I'll just add that you may want to read WP:1ST if you haven't already, and you may want to start a draft in your user space. To create it in your user space, you can just click on this:User:Speaker Demon/Two Bullet Parade and start creating. Happy editing! OK, all of these sources are about The Moffatts, which already have an article. Do you have any sources specifically about Two bullet parade? Apparition11|Complaints/Mistakes 07:12, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Full Two Bullet Parade Sources

Afghanistan: http://www.twobulletparade.co.nr/exclusives.html

The Bio: (Hi btw, I am Arwen M Reis who wrote that...) http://twobulletparade.co.nr/bio.html

Sites with music and info: http://www.myspace.com/twobulletparade http://www.facebook.com/pages/Two-Bullet-Parade/35650958659

Tons of news and information that back things up: http://twobulletparade.co.nr/

And btw, the Guitar Player information is actually Two Bullet Parade. And if y'all would give me a chance to finish the page, I would be able to explain why all the Moffatts stuff matters. Since they were once members and have been members of many bands since.

Videos of Two Bullet Parade performing in the studio and at the CMA Fan Fair 2008 http://www.youtube.com/user/TwoBulletParade

All websites contain people who will be able to vouch for the information provided. The band will as well.

Why is it such a hard deal to start a page on a newer band? I see more pointless pages on this website all the time.

I wasn't trying to interrupt you from editing your page, I hadn't even realized that you had started. I won't post here again after this if that is what you want. I was just trying to help. The reason that pages for newer bands usually get deleted is because they don't usually have many reliable, third party sources that establish notability. For the sources, I missed the Guitar Player one, I just looked at links, sorry. That is a good start, but I'd bet that in order to survive an WP:AFD, you'd probably need more third party sources primarily about this band. Band homepages, myspace, facebook, and youtube are not usually considered reliable sources. Good luck. I'll bow out now. Apparition11|Complaints/Mistakes 07:42, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am just frustrated because it seemed like I wasn't even being given a chance to get the page going before it would get deleted. There are tons of links on their Afghanistan and CMA stints, I will have them provided in the end, once I am done. I thank you all for your help, but it is just frustrating when you are in the middle of working and then the whole page is gone and you have to start again.

(Speaker Demon (talk) 07:47, 24 December 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Oh, I think I understood you wrong. When you said "if y'all would give me a chance to finish the page", I thought you meant because of the big "You have new messages" bar :) Yeah, having articles deleted is frustrating. Just when it happens, try to understand why and fix the problem(s) before resubmitting it, and, if need be, draft it up in your user space before submitting like you're doing now. You'll have plenty of time to write your articles there without the interruptions (as long as I'm right this time and you were talking about it being deleted and not the big message bar). Cheers!
