Shawn McKenzie, born in Toronto and raised in Queens, New York, grew up in a music-inspired home. His grandfather, a saxophonist, and mother, a music manager, nurtured Shawn’s music curiosity and raw talent at a young age. As a teenager, Shawn focused his creative talents and formed his own hip-hop trio called “Main Source,” attracting the attention of famed video and film director Hype Williams to direct their first music video. Their first single “Front Door” topped the Billboard chart at #1.

Shawn’s innovative sounds, tenacity and work ethic captivated budding talent from within the music industry. Soon artists, like MC Lyte, Brand New Heavies and Queen Latifah called Shawn to produce for them. The result: Shawn produced go-getter gold records for MC Lyte and Brand New Heavies, and a powerful platinum album for Queen Latifah.

Word-of-mouth continued to spread about Shawn’s production talents. He rose into music prominence and churned out multiple platinum records for Madonna, TLC, Backstreet Boys, Seal, O’Jays, Main Source and many more. His eclectic use of pop, reggae, R&B, rock, jazz, classical and country allows Shawn to deliver cutting-edge sounds transforming music for the heart of the artist and ears of the audience.

As a music industry leader, Shawn achieved multiple gold and 31 multi-platinum successes in his career. His credits include producing soundtracks for Hollywood feature films such as Spy Kids 3-D Game Over, White Men Can’t Jump, Boys n’ the Hood, Juice, and House Party II.

To this day, clients continue to seek out Shawn’s production services. Shawn, President and CEO of Main Source Now (MSN), heads a prolific production team. MSN produced Maestro Fresh Wes and Jack Soul in Canada. His work can also be currently heard on TV’s most popular channels MTV, VH1, Discovery Channel, and shows Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Real World, Tough Love and Cribs. Shawn is currently working with chart-topping artists, and plans to release an upcoming EP in Spring/Summer 2015.
