Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. When you make a change to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Pea galaxy. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit. It is also useful when reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. ukexpat (talk) 16:38, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Okay! I have thinned down the web links considerably, but kept the links to the Chinese and Indian websites as they are in English.

I have moved some of the science out of the history section into the physics section. I think the history bit is interesting as it gives an example of how Citizen Science can actually work in reality.

There are still some more facts and figures to put in. All of this article uses the one paper and one press release that have so far been published- we are waiting for the second one. Any links to the blog will have to change, as they decided to move it last weekend and the pictures have all disappeared! Oh dear!

I will soon include some pictures from the Hubble Space Telescope which should be fine for us to use. There will be five or so of them.

December27th

Uploaded a picture by Carolin Cardamone. I give permission for the use of the graphs and figures I created to be used in the Wiki Article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pea_galaxy by Rick Nowell.

Thank you, Carie

I do not understand what you mean by citations I'm afraid.

Thanks for your help and time. This is a worthwhile article that will grow as the weeks past. Hopefully I can get a couple of the Scientists to write about what their next plans are. The festivities might well get in the way though!!

Richard Nowell for Galaxy Zoo.

Added some more photos and started to expand the facts and figures to include some more peices of the paper and how the Peas were selected. I have the owners permission.

Fair use rationale for File:Hubble Peas Ed.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Hubble Peas Ed.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ukexpat (talk) 21:12, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:PeaAGN Graph ed.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:PeaAGN Graph ed.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. December17/2009

I have contacted the owner, Miss Carolin Cardamone, who is a graduate student at the Astrophysics department at Yale Uni. This quote is a direct copy from a personal email Carrie sent to me: "Hi Rick,

Great idea about the article. Please go ahead and freely use the pictures, anything I've posted on the forum / blog, etc."

I have asked her to send her permission to the above permission address (permissions-en@wikimedia.org). Hopefully you should receive that within the week. I am confident that permission has been given, which is why I uploaded them.

I have thinned out the links to other websites.

I have tried to take out extraneous material (text) and opinions.

References and citations I am confused about, to be honest. It's obvious i didn't make this up, and I have tried to put as many links to the relevant forum/blog. I'm not sure what else I can do without guidance.

The article is looking in better shape now I feel. Thankyou for your help; it is appreciated. Richard Nowell (talk) 12:28, 17 December 2009 (UTC) Richard Nowell.

Have kept plugging away at spelling mistakes etc. Rick 15:36

The external links are now down to a dozen.

Carolin Cardamone has contacted me to say that she has sent her permission for her graphics to be used in this article to the permission email, so I have uploaded a spectrum from this paper: Galaxy Zoo Green Peas Abstract of 'Galaxy Zoo Green Peas: Discovery of A Class of Compact Extremely Star-Forming Galaxies' C. Cardamone et al.

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:GANDALF Spectrum.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 14:36, 19 December 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 14:36, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your help. As the same person made these GANDALF graphics as the others, then she has given permission. I will make that clear presently. Have done a lot of work on it, but I can't get the notes to work: I wish I could! Richard Nowell (talk) 14:51, 19 December 2009 (UTC) Richard Nowell

I am not using this image file anymore, so it may as well be deleted: GANDALF Spectrum.jpg

I have uploaded the image GANDALF Spec Paper ed.jpg to replace it. I have the owner's permission.

I have uploaded the image Peas_Equiv_Width_ed.jpg . I have the owner's permission. Richard Nowell Richard Nowell (talk) 16:14, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

We only have your word for it that the owner has given permission -- we need evidence of that as described at WP:IOWN. – ukexpat (talk) 16:29, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Ok, I have saught the owner's permission for the two latest images, and asked her to confirm again that the image named 'Hubble Pics' can be used. Richard Nowell Richard Nowell (talk) 17:01, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

December 20th 2009

The author of the paper has contacted me to say that she gives permission for me to use these graphic files. I think, hope, she has emailed your permission address saying the same.

I have also emailed the paper's publishers, just to make sure that they are ok with everything.

We are not totally sure to what level Wiki is expecting us to gain permission. I have obtained Carolin's permission; whether you believe that or not is up to you. I am trying my hardest this end to make everything above board.

Thankyou for your patience. Richard NowellRichard Nowell (talk) 10:39, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

I have put a caption for each picture and deleted a picture that was actually wrong, the GANDALF spectrum. I will thus need to upload a correct one. So, this one is wrong and has no need to be on Wikipedia. GANDALF Spec Paper ed.jpg

I have uploaded these two correct spectra: GANDALF 587724233716596882 ed.jpg GANDALF 587724241767825591 ed.jpg

There was a lot of punctuation that needed fixing. There were also some links which didn't work, but now do.

Thank you for uploading File:Pea Star Formation.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. At least now I have got some feedback. Richard Nowell (talk) 15:30, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Few points: We are all volunteers here so if you don't get an immediate reply to a question, you just have to be patient. Please assume good faith when dealing with other editors. Please change you attitude otherwise other editors will be less inclined to assist you. – ukexpat (talk) 16:18, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Removed links from facts and figures so there is just the plain number now. A link address is provided at the top of that section. Have taken dubious statements, or statements that are not relable, off the article. There are now only three basic references. Have taken all but two of the external links away. Am debating about what to do with the History of Discovery. Richard Nowell (talk) 15:30, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Later... Took out the History section, as its only sources were forum or blog. And quite a lot else besides. Richard Nowell (talk) 16:58, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks to whoever changed all the solar mass symbols. Definitely an improvement. I considered it, but thought that it might confuse people not so good with symbols, but it reads fine and certainly is more concise. A useful change.

The notes for Carolin's (Carrie's) use of GALEX info clears up a lot of the facts and figures and makes it more uniform. Worthwhile. Richard Nowell (talk) 10:17, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Put in two links to GZ websites. This puts the subject more in context, now that the entire History section has gone. Please leave them there if at all possible. There are now only four external links in the entire article. There used to be more; a lot more! Richard Nowell (talk) 10:43, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Standardised punctuation using the American standard and Logical Quotation. Reduced size of pictures (why were they that big anyway?). Other bits 'n' peices. Richard Nowell (talk) 18:55, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Please note that {{User:Icez/User Astronomy}} does not belong on articles, please do not add it there. This template only belongs on user pages, such as user:Richard Nowell.

Category:WikiProject_Astronomy

Please note that Category:WikiProject_Astronomy is not attached to articles. It is not an articlespace category. If you wish to attach an article to Wikipedia:WikiProject Astronomy, you need to use the {{WPAstronomy}} template, and attach it to the TOP of the Talk Page; this banner only goes on template talk pages, category talk pages, and article talk pages (and a few other miscellaneous talk pages), not user talk pages. 76.66.197.17 (talk) 20:04, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Peer review

Thanks for your note and work on the article. Peer reviews are almost never deleted and the link remains on the talk page of the article, so I restored that. Regarding your message on my talk page, if you or the other user you mentioned is closely related to the subject then there will be a Conflict of interest. Please, be neutral about the editing and I have asked you for your evidences against the accusation you made against me on my talk page and on the article's talk page. Would you please stop harnessing me? Why you are referring to me as someone else I don't know? Bisswajit 09:10, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
  • @Richard Nowell: I saw the comments at Talk:Green Bean Galaxies and agree that the "prediction" needs to be removed. However, please do not speculate about the identity of other contributors as that violates WP:OUTING. I think I see two mentions concerning two different editors with a suggestion about the identity of each. That must not occur. Johnuniq (talk) 09:21, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Galaxy Zoo may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s and 1 "{}"s likely mistaking one for another. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
