Welcome

Howdy,

Welcome to Wikipedia, I hope you're enjoying your time here so far. One of the articles you created may not not meet our notability guidelines for biographies which requires people to be the subject of published secondary source material which is reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject. If you feel this subject is notable, please add reliable secondary sources.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. -Atmoz (talk) 02:02, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I am new to this and I think I left the message in the wrong place. I have tried to clean up the article I made by providing secondary sources. Thanks for the suggestion! I would also like to creat a page for Malaak Compton-Rock, since I see it does not exist. Perhaps I will ask for your comments when i finish it, if that's ok with you. Thanks again. We were all new once, so I understand that it may be difficult to fully understand all the Wikipedia rules. That's okay. One of the 5 pillars of Wikipedia is that we don't have firm rules and encourage editors to be bold in editing. We are less bold when dealing with biographies of living persons. Because Wikipedia is one of the most popular websites on the Internet, false information in a biography has the potential to do actual harm to a person. So we have special rules for dealing with them. It is imperative that we get it right.
I am not saying there is anything wrong with the Katrina Voss article, but there is nothing in the article to indicate why she should have an encyclopedia article about her. The article states she is known for her writing at Free Inquiry. Has there been any secondary sources that discuss her work, or are they all primary sources written by her. Of all the sources your cite, I see a lot are by Katrina Voss, but I don't see any that are about her. A Wikipedia biography should say who is this person and why are they important, and it should all be written about in another source. Unfortunately, I don't think being a TV weather personality is enough to make someone notable enough for an entry in an encyclopedia. Hopefully you'll be able to find some more good sources about Katrina and make it a good article. Good luck! -Atmoz (talk) 18:41, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for the clarification. I have added some secondary sources to the article, from different news sources, in the references section. I hope this is ok but if not I will try to find a few more. Should I remove the "written by" part to another section so it is not part of the references? Hopefully, I will do better with my Malaak article! Purple333 (talk) 22:24, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think the article is okay, but it really needs some sources that talk about Katrina Voss and why she is notable, not that merely mention her. (You can use the colon,:, to indent responses to show you are responding to someones comment. Each colon adds another indent.) -Atmoz (talk) 06:55, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the info about the colon, i am using it here...learning something new every day! When I finish the other page I mentioned maybe I will ask you to have a look if you have time. Thanks again. 98.242.78.91 (talk) 16:01, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
