I chose these six words because I feel that they do a good job summing up my life, and how I am living it as well. This was not an easy task to come up with these words, because they had to be unique, and they would have to be able to explain my life in exactly six words. The sentence also had to be creative as well, which, altogether, made this a pretty hard task.

The deeper meaning behind my six word sentence is simple to understand, but might be hard to find as well in the mean time. My sentence is: “My book is a unique genre”. It might just look like a plain six word sentence that might explain something such as that I had written a book, and that it is of a genre that is not known to people, but as a matter of fact, its not! My sentence means something more sophisticated than that. It means that my life, which is represented by the book in my sentence, is unique and different from other peoples’ lives, which my way of life is represented by the “unique genre”, other peoples’ lives would be represented by the, well-known, existent genres.

The little girl was not a little girl anymore. In fact, she was now 14. She was staying at her father’s for the weekend, and now she was asleep. It was a Saturday evening, and that day, the father and her daughter had recounted their past experiences with each other. One particular event they had recalled was Gaston, the bug who lived in the peach. That night, the girl began to have strange dreams that revolved around Gaston.

“Why did you squash me?” Gaston would say. The girl would be speechless.

That following weekend, when staying at her father’s again, she told him what had been happening. The father told her just to calm down, and that she probably was just not getting enough sleep each night, and that that was what was causing the nightmares. That night, they were sleeping, when suddenly, the girl screamed. The father came in, and the girl was rolled up in a fetal position on her bed.

She said: “He won’t leave me alone!”
     “Who’s he?” asked the father.

The girl explained. That next day, the father brought the girl to a mental institution. And then, the doctors there declared her mentally insane. The father told the mother of the horrible news. That night, the father had bad dreams involving Gaston too. He woke up screaming, nad suddenly, he heard a thump in the hallway. He went out to look, and he saw a little bug. He went to get a book to squish it with, and when he tried to, it didn’t work. He heard the bug talk

“you’re going to pay old man!” said Gaston. And he ran off.

The man told his wife the next day, and was able to convince her to come to the mental institute with him that day. When they got there, the girl was acting crazier than before.

“try and squash me now!” they heard a voice like Gaston’s say. They were shocked. the suddenly, there was a rumbling all throughout the building, and suddenly, the floor around then and Gaston fell, and beneath them was lava. They were standing on pillars above the lava. The father suddenly had a gun in his pocket. He went to shoot the girl, but he couldn’t, he just couldn’t kill his own daughter just for the sake of the world.
“well I can!” said Gaston and he jump down into the lava, since he had manifested himself within the girl, he was controlling her. And she flew down into the lava.
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!” said the father. The mom started crying. Then they heard a voice say “now I’m going to go on, and rule the world!!!!!!”. It was Gaston’s voice.

Later that evening, he was at home with his wife, and they were sad. Then they heard on the news: “The president has been shot by an evil Charlie Sheen. More at eleven.”

The father dropped down on his knees and said “NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!”

he woke up, and he was still screaming. “Are you alright? Said his daughter”

“yes, yes I am totally fine, you know your crazy old father!”
“Yeah, maybe we should take you to a mental hospital” the girl joked.

The father laughed, and at the same time, wondered what had his dream meant, but he just closed his eyes, and went back to sleep. _____________________________________________________________________

Erich Desmond 1/18/12 Dr. Lessler D.B.Q. Essay

Ancient Greek civilization lasted from 2200-350 B.C.E.. many of their great thinker philophosized about human nature. Their government was mostly a democracy during their time. The Greeks also used the column in various structures such as the pantheon. Many achievements of the ancient Greeks in the fields of philosophy, technology, and government contributed to Western Civilization.

Ancient Greek government was a contributor to Western Government. Much of Ancient Greece was a democracy. Many people supported this government, as shown clearly through the popularity of Athenian military general Pericles, who deeply believed that all should be part in their country‘s government. People preferred this government more because the majority had the power, and the people were not discriminated against based on wealth or social status. Even Aristotle believed that humans should decide their own lives, and not be controlled by others. Even in the play Antigone, freedom in the government is implied and encouraged. Many citizens of Greece were supportive of this government. (Doc. 2,3,6) In an additional document, it is showed how Greece was politically divided into city-states. This may be a factor in the reason why many counties In the west are separated into states or provinces. (O.D.)

Western Civilization’s technology was contributed to by ancient Greece. In many Greek structures such as the Parthenon, the Greeks used the column, as it was able to distribute pressure in special ways, allowing architectural feats not-before possible. Euclid proposed a theorem which stated the relationships between relative angles. (Doc 5,7) In an additional document, it is said how the Greeks invented the Pythagorean Theorem as well. (O.D.) This theorem is an important part of architecture and construction in western civilization.

Ancient Greece has philosophically contributed to western civilization. Aristotle, Socrates, and Plato were Greek philosophers who would focus on pondering human nature, life, and reason. They stressed that humans should naturally live their lives to the fullest, and try and make what they desire of their lives. Hippocrates also thought that humans should respect one another, and that they should not seek to harm others, but instead help them and aid their problems. (Doc 1, 2, 4, O.D.)

The achievements of the Ancient Greeks contributed to many aspects of Western Civilization. From their impact on the governmental structure, to their influence in art and philosophy, it is clear how Western society has been affected by Ancient Greece. These contributions may be due to how well executed they were by the Greeks, and how they worked so well in Greek culture back then. Western Civilization accepted their ways knowing they would work with this civilization as well, which it clearly has.
