Your group has done a fantastic job with your article so far but it needs to be cleaned up and made more presentable. You can search for other trademark acts article on Wikipedia and use it as reference in your work. Also when you are transferring from your sandbox do not save directly from there just copy and paste it through the normal article creation criteria. It would save you a whole lot of scrutiny.

G.robag, I hope you don't mind my jumping in here. One area where both your sandbox article on the Ghana trademark law and another article you've contributed to, Patent Act 2003, could be improved is to employ more secondary sources, rather than primary sources; in other words, other works that have been written about the Ghana trademark and patent statutes, rather than directly from the statutes.

Although going to the primary source is exactly what you should do for academic writing, it is what you shouldn't do for Wikipedia writing; because Wikipedia is supposed to represent what others have written about a topic, rather than your own original research on it. The patent article has already been put up for deletion based on this principle (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Patent Act 2003; I've argued against deletion, but I don't know if my arguments will persuade), and I expect that the sandboxed Trademark article will likewise be put up for deletion. I really recommend you try to use some secondary sources if you'd like to avoid that. TJRC (talk) 23:12, 2 June 2017 (UTC)

The problem is that none of us are mind-readers: if you create an article, even a stub, about an explosion where some people have been evacuated, and don't tell us anything more, then it does not look like an encyclopedic topic. Hi there, I saw your edit in the archive at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Daniel Kobe Ricks Jr. I reverted because archives should not be edited and it's likely that your comment wasn't seen by the clerks involved in the case, I just happen to be watching the archive page. I'll ping There'sNoTime and Sir Sputnik to this discussion, as well as KrakatoaKatie, Gereon K., and Asaf (WMF) who have been involved with this before (everyone: see this discussion from Katie's talk archive) and might have input.

@There'sNoTime and @Sir Sputnik: CheckUser evidence is unreliable in this case, as DKRJ seems to have at some point got himself crossed up in a large good-faith editathon put on by WikiProject Ghana or a related entity. The discussion I linked above from Katie's talk page was a discussion we had the last time some editors involved in one of the editathons got flagged by CU as DKRJ socks. Sockpuppetry calls in this case should be informed by CU but blocks should really be based on strong behavioural evidence, and, respectfully, I don't see it here. Interest in West African topics is common to editors in the WikiProject, and recreations like Derick Kobina Bonney versus Derick Kobina Bonney(DKB) are pretty far from being identical recreations: they are just notable West African topics and eventually someone is going to write about them.

I can't bring the technical data to mind, but even evaluated on behavioural evidence there was significant overlap, hence my block. Thanks Owula kpakpo, and no worries. This sockpuppetry case is unfortunately difficult to call and is prone to false positives. Normally when we see many accounts editing about similar topics in a narrow niche and also with similar private technical data, that is a strong indicator of sockpuppetry abuse. Unfortunately that evidence is also explained well by Wikipedia's outreach and editing events in West Africa, and of course "West Africa" and "African popular music" are not really narrow topic areas, but regrettably it looks that way sometimes to editors who are several continents away. Yes. In a country with only a limited amount of providers a checkuser will get you many false positives. This is the third respected and active member of the User Group Ghana that gets blocked in this sockpuppet fishing. After User:Joy Agyepong and User:Shahadusadik now it hits the guy in the blue shirt in this picture. When you look at his articles like Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (Ghana) I don't see the connection. Not everybody writing about Ghanaean popular culture should be suspected of coming from this sock farm. --Gereon K. (talk) 16:37, 15 November 2017 (UTC)

Like I said, patience is required here. Our policy is that checkuser blocks can only be undone by checkusers, and every indication is that they're working on it. But they are a small, overtaxed team of volunteers. We don't want to prevent anyone from editing who wants to contribute constructively, but at the same time we need to spend the time to do this right so that (hopefully) it doesn't happen again. I'm hoping so, this has happened too many times. Just to put down my thoughts in writing: this is past the point where CU-blocking new DKRJ socks is likely to cause harm to the project, and unless the CheckUsers can come up with something to better filter DKRJ from other users, we should stop relying on CU altogether for this case. Hello. Back in October 2016 you added an "adoptme" template to your User Page. Since that time you appear to have developed a strong presence on Wikipedia, so I wanted to ask you if you still needed it there, and if you really do still still want to be 'adopted' by someone? If not, would you remove it please?.

My reason for asking is because the Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user scheme automatically generates a list of every user who still has that template on their pages. Adopters use that list to help them find people in need of assistance. I've managed to whittle down all the inactive users, from 109 people down to just under 30 active ones like you. Now I'm contacting those users who look like they now know what they're doing, and invite them to remove the template if they're not seeking support any more. Obviously we still have the Teahouse should anyone want to ask individual questions.

Welcome to the third newsletter for the new Growth team!  

The Growth team's objective is to work on software changes that help retain new contributors in mid-size Wikimedia projects.

Two Growth team projects to be deployed in next two weeks

We will be deploying the "Understanding first day" and "Personalized first day" projects on Czech and Korean Wikipedias in the coming weeks. See the new project pages below for full details on the projects, and our project updates page for their progress.

• Understanding first day: learn about the actions new editors take right after creating their accounts. We will be careful with user privacy, and we hope to share initial results in December.
• Personalized first day: learn about new editors' objectives by adding some optional questions to the new editor’s registration process, and personalizing their onboarding. We hope to share initial results in December.

Third Growth team project begins

• Focus on help desk: direct newcomers to the local help desks where they can ask questions to help them make their first edits. We hope to have an initial experiment running in December.

Best practices for helping newcomers

We are going to direct newcomers to help desks. But what's the best way to reply to a newcomer there? We have gathered some best practices for successful interactions, based on community experiences and some external documentation. The page has also been reviewed by some experienced community members who suggested some changes. That page is now open for translations. Comments and suggestions are still welcome!

We are still looking for volunteers

Do you want to participate to our experiments? We are looking for new communities to work with us (especially a new mid-size wiki), and people to become ambassadors to help us to communicate with the different communities. Discover how you can involve yourself or your community.

Greetings!

Thank you very much for signing up to participate in the Months of African Cinema global contest/edit-a-thon, and thank you for your contributions so far.

It is already the middle of the contest and a lot have been achieved already! We have been able to get over 200 articles created in over seven (7) languages! The figures soars to up to a thousand, if Wikidata entries are included. Furthermore, there have been about 5 in-person gatherings of Wikipedians in different countries across the world to create articles about African(a) cinema!

We are very excited about what has been achieved so far, but your contributions are still needed to further exceed all expectations! Let’s create more articles before the end of this contest, which is this November!!!

Hello, Owula kpakpo. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Welcome to the fourth newsletter for the new Growth team!  

The Growth team's objective is to work on software changes that help retain new contributors in mid-size Wikimedia projects.

We need your feedback!

We have two requests for community members:

1. Now that data is coming in for the welcome survey, we are planning how to use that data to personalize the newcomer's first day. See our current thoughts here, and join the conversation here.
2. Try out the help panel's interactive prototype, and read about how we're planning to roll it out, and post any thoughts or reactions here.

Two Growth team projects have been deployed (detailed updates here)

• Personalized first day (welcome survey) was deployed on November 20 on both Czech and Korean Wikipedias.
  • The survey is now being shown to half of new users (A/B test). Responses are being recorded in the database. We'll report on initial results during December.
  • We are planning to test a second version of the survey, called "Variation C", which we think will maximize the number of users who complete the survey and stay on the wiki.
  • The original objective of this project was to give newcomers the materials they need to achieve their goals, and so now we are currently planning how we will use the information collected in the welcome survey to personalize the newcomer's experience. We hope community members will read our current thinking and join the conversation here. Some of the plans we are considering include:
    • Making it easy for newcomers to see editing activity around the topic areas in which they indicated that they're interested.
    • Connecting interested newcomers to experienced editors.
    • Surfacing the help content most relevant to the reason for which the newcomers created their accounts.

• Understanding first day (EditorJourney) was deployed on November 15 on both Czech and Korean Wikipedias. It has been done after a longer security review and final testing than expected. Data is now being recorded for all new users on those wikis, and we've been auditing the data and preparing to make initial reports during December. Stay tuned for the next newsletter!

Help panel is under construction

• Focus on help desk (help panel) is planned to be deployed during the week of January 7 on both Czech and Korean Wikipedias.
• This interactive prototype is the best way to see the design and wording in the feature.
• We ran live user tests on the prototype, with results posted here.
• In addition to giving the ability to ask a question, the help panel will also contain a set of links to existing help content. Our ambassadors on Czech and Korean Wikipedias are determining the right initial set of most helpful links in this task.
• We encourage community members to try out the prototype and read about the rules for who will get the feature, and add any thoughts to this discussion.
