These all look really good. --Danny Reese 02:23, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It seems that you believe you removed the POV from this article. However, it is still VERY heavily POV. As you may or may not know, Cabinda has been subject to pov vandalism and I suspect you did not fix this. Look, for example, at the ending: "On 18 July 2006 FLEC and the government of Angola signed a sham peace treaty with FLEC renegade Bento Bemebe. The cease fire took effect on 19 July. [1] However, the war has continued unabated." Now, what proof is there that it was a sham agreement? or that the war has continued? or that Bento Bemebe is a FLEC renegade? The link that is cited says none of that. Granted, the link is to official Angolan press, but I believe one could find a BBC article to say the same. Please consider the whole article next time when trying to get rid of POV.--Thomas.macmillan 15:20, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nathan, thank you for your message and contributions. Good job on Angola-related article.--Stavenn 16:32, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Angola: Official Languages

Hi Nathan Holland,

I agree with you regarding your statement:

(Kikongo and other Bantu languages are not official languages. Portuguese is the official language which is indicated in the CIA world factbook. Otherwise the infobox would have to change)

I added that link to try to resolve the issue with a citation needed. Unfortunately, there are many ways to look at this:

  • Kikongo is a actually a dialect
  • The Congo language areas overlap the physical border, meaning that other languages are spoken there as the CIA website indicates.
  • There is significant creolization still happening with the languages. (Afrikaans, for example is thought to have been a creole of Portuguese, Dutch and indigenous languages)
  • Numerous other websites currently list Kongo as an official language of Angola

I added information to the footnotes section of the Info Box to try to address the question. The Kikongo article states that it is spoken in Angola as well.

Now, you know everything that I know! :-)

Take care and good luck.

Larry

cabinda.net

It was removed from all the pages I found it on, because every time I added the unsourced tag to the articles, the system kicked them back as having a spam blacklist link in them, specifically the cabinda.net site. That is evidently not allowed by the wiki system, as it has been spammed across too many pages. I didn't add it to the list, I'm just trying to edit in good faith, and then have to remove something so the article will load.--Vidkun 23:20, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am from Angola and I work as translator. I am planning to provide as much information as I can on Angolan music since I am very fond of it and have lots of CDs and so on.

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Nathan Holland! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 331 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. File permission problem with File:TJ McCloud.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:TJ McCloud.jpg, which you've attributed to Julie Woodroof. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 21:10, 2 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The page File:GiantSable.JPG has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it was a file licensed as "for non-commercial use only", "no derivative use", "for Wikipedia use only", or "used with permission"; and it had not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions, or you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally you should clearly state:
