Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Spokane Civic Theatre, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. The reverted edit can be found here. nprice (talk) 19:06, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Issues with your editing

Since you have edited the Spokane Civic Theatre article, your username is in violation of both our username and conflict of interest policies. Your editing behavior has further violated our policies on edit warring. I would be within my rights as an administrator to block your account indefinitely.

I am not doing that yet, although I strongly suggest you request a change to an acceptable username as soon as possible. I am holding off on blocking you because a close examination of the material you removed shows that for the most part it wasn't reliably sourced and that it may have been posted by the former employee who it discussed (and with whom I have had a discussion similar to this one). A disinterested editor may well have been reasonably within our policies to remove it as you did.

However, at the same time one of the articles is indeed a reliable source, and thus the section cannot be removed totally. I have thus placed our article under full protection for two weeks, meaning that only administrators can edit it. I would be happy to draft a version of that section that meets our polices and consult with both you and Mr. Price in doing so. Please let me know if you wish to do so. Dear Mr. Case,

Spokane Civic Theatre assumed that we had the right to edit and remove content on the Wikipedia page that was not written by Spokane Civic Theatre. The reason for the different contributors to the Wikipedia page is because we have had assistance from both college interns and staff members in creating this page. We were unaware that this might violate the guidelines and policies of Wikipedia. Spokane Civic Theatre also assumes that the edits by User talk: Jpr1176 (James Price) were created by James P. Ryan.

Mr. Ryan was terminated in October 2010 from Spokane Civic Theatre. Employment within the State of Washington is considered “at will.” Spokane Civic Theatre respects the rights of employees to have personnel information kept confidential and continues to have “No Comment” on this issue. The Ryans have attempted to tarnish the reputation of the theatre by using a defamatory website to publicly shame those who support Spokane Civic Theatre.

As disgruntled former employees, Spokane Civic Theatre understands that the Ryans are entitled to their opinions regarding their termination and have the right to express their discontent. We at Spokane Civic Theatre wish the Ryans all the best in their future endeavors and hope that they can move on peacefully and professionally.

Following termination, Mr. Ryan filed a complaint against the Spokane Civic Theatre with the State of Washington Human Rights Commission. On January 27, 2011, the Commission recommended closure of the complaint and explained their reasoning as No Jurisdiction (Case Number: 32EX-0474-10-1).

All inquires related to the terminations of James P Ryan and Lynette L Ryan should be directed to:

Spokane Civic Theatre filed a UDRP complaint with the National Arbitration Forum referencing two domain names in dispute, because the domain names are identical to or confusingly similar to Spokane Civic Theatre mark (Claim Number: FA1109001409107). On November 1, 2011, in a 2-1 ruling, the Panel found that Spokane Civic Theatre had not established at least one of the elements required under the ICANN Policy and denied relief.

Spokane Civic Theatre plays a vital role in our community with a 65 year tradition as a performing arts institution in the greater Spokane area. Spokane Civic Theatre has used the Wikipedia page to share factual information about the theatre. We respectfully request that you remove the “Controversy” section and all references/links that publicly defame Spokane Civic Theatre, the Board of Directors and Executive Artistic Director, Yvonne A.K. Johnson. Once again, Spokane Civic Theatre apologizes for not having a better understanding of the guidelines and policies of Wikipedia.
