Manny Maroquin article

I have removed the biographical material you placed on Talk:Manny Marroquin. Such material goes in an article about the individual, not on talk. However, the material I removed could not survive in that form in an article because of its extreme POV and lack of references, the reason it was reverted previously. There is also a Conflict Of Interest problem in that the subject of the article is Manny, your username is Mannymgr which I assume means Manny Manager, and you signed your contributions Cohen Entertainment which suggests you own/are employed by an institution which manages Manny Maroquin. Please leave me a message if you have any comments. Kaiwhakahaere (talk) 21:07, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Kaiwhakahaere:
My name is Irene Ramos and I am assistant to Randy Cohen (manager to Manny Marroquin). Since Randy Cohen has the power of attorney, he has authorized me to make the appropriate changes to Manny Marroquin's biography content--all with accurate facts. The user who previously wrote Manny Marroquin's article has inaccurate facts. Manny Marroquin was never nominated for the albums "Emanicipation of Mimi" and "Late Registration. Further, Manny Marroquin NEVER cleaned toiletts early in his career. He was a studio runner.
We will be replacing the previous article with facts from his biography page on his website (www.mannymarroquin.com), from the Grammy Academy (www.grammy.com), and from the article from USA Today (http://www.usatoday.com/life/music/news/2008-12-02-grammy-museum_n.htm).
Could you please provide me with some help so that accurate facts about Manny Marroquin will be posted on wikipedia? Mannymgr (talk) 00:56, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sure Irene. First off, apart from adding references for grammy noms, and birthdate, how do you think you and I could actually improve the article in its present form?. Remember, Wikipedia is not a fansite, so lots of stuff his website might carry would not be welcome. If you can find time, you could read how to write a Wikipedia article, how to edit a page and the style manual which tells you how to mark up type, use dates and numbers etc. There are other tutorials too, but it can be a daunting journey around the lot for newcomers. Yell if you need help, and please don't be disheartened if you make additions that are edited or even removed. Cheers. Ka kite ano. Kaiwhakahaere (talk) 01:35, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Kwaiwhakahaere. I am going to have to apply what I learned from my English Research class ha. I didn't even notice the reference footnotes when I previously visited your site. I am revising my biography page by adding footnote references. Hopefully that will be acceptable to wikipedia.

Hello Kwaiwhakahaere. Here's my situation, we are a music managment company, not particularly computer savvy- at all- we have the references to support the changes for Manny's biograpghy- point of view removed. We have gone through the tutorial regading citations etc...BUT really need help- is there a way I can give you the updated bio with #'s and references? Please let us know- thank you kindly. ````

Just add it to the article, but make sure you give references from reputable site/s and leave out out all opinion. You say above that "Manny Marroquin NEVER cleaned toiletts early in his career" but his website quotes him as saying his first day at Enterprise "was the best and worst day of my life . . . the best because I was at a huge studio; the worst because I was cleaning bathrooms." Anything you add will be edited which is the way of Wikipedia. One sentence (previously) on the talk page said "His obvious gift for music became obvious at age 11 when he began playing drums." The word obvious is mentioned twice in six words, it is POV, and unreferenced. A firm candidate for severe editing, I'd guess. (Hey, who says you need to be musical to play drums? Don't mind me, that's just my Philistinic POV and obviously I could never edit an article to say so.) Also, please delete anything you believe is inaccurate, but not if it is reliably referenced. Have at it. Cheers Kaiwhakahaere (talk) 21:56, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Kwaiwhakahaere. We are also in the process of removing that statement out from his website--in reference to him cleaning toilettes. He just wants people to understand he started out as a studio runner not a janitor. I have all the references and I'll go back to double-check for any hint of POV.

Sorry Mannymgr, but I have reverted your change to the article. The info you inserted reads like a fansite, and does not gel with wikipedia style or standards. Please have a look around Wikipedia before attempting to replace info here. Also, can you give a birthdate? Have you removed information which you say is not accurate? Kaiwhakahaere (talk) 21:59, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kwaiwhakahaere. I posted a short bio on Manny Marroquin--which we believe is more suitable with the wikipedia style. We will be posting his discography shortly. If you still feel the short bio doesn't align with the wikipedia style, could you at least delete the nominations and update the current bio with his Grammy wins. We referenced the Grammy link which lists all his Grammy wins. Sometimes it doesn't show but if you type Manny Marroquin on the Grammy Academy link, it will list all his Grammy wins. Hello again. That's better, I have tweaked it a bit more to make it look less like a fansite. Cheers. Kaiwhakahaere (talk) 23:18, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. My intern added the discography but I have a feeling that is not the correct way. I'm sure you'll send leave me a message if is inserted incorrectly.
