Username policy

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy for the following reason: Company/group names - Tropicalismo. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?

I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.

You have several options freely available to you:

Thank you. LouriePieterse 12:06, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello LouriePieterse,

First of all, you haven't been unfriendly in any way. Thank you for your approach and advice. I've been reading through the username policy and it seems that it would be better to change the username I first chose, but still I'd like to let you know why I chose it and ask for your advice on the best thing to do based on my situation.

I'm a collaborator in a contemporary art museum in Barcelona - MACBA is its name, hence the username - and most of the contributions I make on wikipedia have something to do with the museum's radio programmes. Just to give you an example, in the case of the Tropicalismo article, I linked an radio monographic on the brazilian movement, comissioned by the museum's online radio. I only add specific contents I find of use for wikipedia users/articles.

Nevertheless, I do represent a group in a way - I collaborate with Ràdio Web MACBA - and from what I've gathered this goes against wiki policies. Would it be better if I do it with a personal username? Or maybe create a different account? What's your opinion on the subject?

Thank you very much for your time MACBA (talk) 11:52, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MACBA. Sorry for taking so long to respond, but I was on holiday. You could use your personal name, such as I, or you could just use a nickname. Please don't create a different account. Decide on a new username, and then just request a rename. Kind regards, LouriePieterse 08:29, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
