What is "Greenwashing" or "Greenwash" -

Green washing has become a problem in the green homes for sale marketing campaigns worldwide.

Typical MLS (multiple listing services) are scrambling to modify their automated databases to accommodate green terminology used to describe what a home might incorporate. But other tremendous efforts have taken place, primarily with companies who strive to overcome the dilemma of how to sort through what is really "green" and what is simply "green washing".

Green washing in the real estate market, is when someone uses "green" terminology, such as "solar" or "eco-friendly", to focus more attention to traditionally build homes or developments. But green washing has become all too common in the general marketplace. We see it everywhere. The media has jumped on board, as have many others. Green is hip. Green is good. But buyer beware. Look for companies that don't use automatic databases, but utilize the human element to differentiate the terminology being used.

Some companies have taken a proactive stance with regards to sorting out whats "green" or "not green". ListedGreen.com is one online company who uses real "humans" to verify listing information submitted. Staff will not post a green listing live, until the content is reviewed and deemed appropriate. A Green MLS if you will.

Extra efforts to maintain the integrity of "green". A critical segment in the online information overload.
