Wolfgang Dauner - Output

I also started out editing music articles on Wikipedia, so I realise how daunting it can be sometimes when your learning the ropes. What I did come to understand is not every musical group, album or song is considered notable. Just because an album exists it doesn't automatically make it notable. It is particularly hard to meet the notability standards for older music recordings and non-mainstream music genres - as there just aren't many online sources. Sites such as Discogs, MusicBrainz and RateYourMusic are not considered acceptable sources as they are largely user generated without any independent editorial oversight. Likewise music retail sites are not acceptable sources either. The Allmusic site establishes that the album exists but not that it is notable. The best way of establishing notability, per WP:NALBUM, is to demonstrate that there is significant coverage (about the album & not just mentions in passing) in multiple independent reliable secondary sources - which is why independent reviews on sites such as Allmusic are good. Hope that helps - happy editing - if you have anymore questions drop me a line. Dan arndt (talk) 01:31, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
