Thanks very much. I'm very new, and I've already made some mistakes, but people are very kind in helping me out! One thing I did wonder is how to upload a photo. When I read the help page, it looked to me as though I had to wait until several days had passed, or I'd done a number of pages, but perhaps I misunderstand?Kilmory (talk) 18:28, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
Hi, I see you have been hard at work on this one - so far so good. Just a couple of things on formatting:
- There is no need to insert "hard" paragraph breaks </br> - the Wikipedia software recognises a regular new line when you hit enter, using the hard code creates unnecessary white spaces.
- Please take a look at WP:LASTNAME - we refer to article subjects once by their full name, and thereafter by their last name only (unless that is likely to cause confusion with other family memebers).
- I will add hatnotes to both articles to avoid confusion.
- A couple of other useful links to read: Help:TMM and WP:REFBEGIN.
I will reply to Terrence's e-mail a little later today. Hope this helps. You can respond here if you wish, I will monitor this page.--ukexpat (talk) 14:56, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks very much. I'm totally new to this, so this is very helpful. I'll remove the hard breaks and fix the last name thing. Originally the page was all one run-on thing when it came to the lists, which is why I started adding the hard breaks. I've also asked Terrence to weed out his credits so the lists are somewhat shorter. They're shorter than the previous entry on him, but still too long.
- Thanks also for fixing the other Terrence Scammell page. Out of courtesy to him, we may add a brief blurb on him, as well as whatever credits were his from the original long list. We've also found a photo of him that we'll try to upload at some point (once I'm allowed), bearing in mind any copyright issues.Kilmory (talk) 18:26, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
- Don't worry about making mistakes - they can easily be undone! With respect to the image, if you own the copyright, you can upload it to Wikimedia Commons, which doesn't have a auto-confirmation requirement. You may need unify your account by going to this page, so that you can use your Wikipedia login at Commons. Please go ahead and expand the other article too -- it needs more detail and references so that it does not get nominated for deletion. If that happens we will be right back where we started!--ukexpat (talk) 18:46, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
- Ack, we don't want to be back where we started, haha! I can upload a photograph of the Canadian Terrence Scammell for certain, and will see if the one we found is okay to use for the British Terrence Scammell. We found it on eBay, of all places, and it seems to be the only available photo of him online—from a Shakespearean play he did in 1964!Kilmory (talk) 18:54, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
- I would be careful with an image that you find on the 'net and err on the side of caution - it is almost certainly copyrighted, even if it's not specified as such, and without a specific permission from the copyright owner, we can't use it.--ukexpat (talk) 20:17, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

That's what I figured. We won't use it for the British Terrence Scammell, just in case. I found a link to a pictorial spread on "Shakespearean Prep School" which has a murky photo of him, should people be so inclined. Otherwise, he appears to be quite camera-shy... I have filled up his page as much as I can, based on everything we could find on him. Hopefully someone else will take an interest and flesh it out a little more. By the way, if you see anything that doesn't belong in whatever section on his page, feel free to move or delete it!
