Unlike theocracy, which means “a system of government in which priests rule in the name of god”, Thearchy means: the Supreme government ruled by the God or the Gods - divine sovereignty. On the scale of types of governments, Thearchy is defined as the highest government above all governments, because it is ruled by the Gods / Supreme Beings directly, without involving third parties, like a priests.

The Oxford English Dictionary has this definition:

“Rule by a god or gods”.

Origin From ecclesiastical Greek thearkhia ‘godhead’, from theos ‘god’ + arkhein ‘to rule’.
