Orphaned fair use image (Image:RAN band crest.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:RAN band crest.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. Hey, I was wondering if you were still interested in maintaining the WWII portal? I've been working on getting the WWI portal ready for featured portal candidacy, and after that's accomplished, I'd like to start work on the WWII portal - but I don't want to tread on your toes! If you're still interested, hopefully we can work together; if not, I'll just muddle on through by myself... ; ) Carom 02:12, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, works for me - I'll take a look at the portal next week and see what I can do. Carom 21:18, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, if you wouldn't mind taking a look at what I've done so far and letting me know what you think, that would be great! There are two components that I haven't really touched yet (Anniversary and Daily Battle), so if you have any suggestions on those in particular...Carom 18:35, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Surf break list

I have just found a govt map with names of the breaks - it would be good if you could put it in your sandbox before putting it up -= then we might have a check before it goes onto a page - please note that I believe it should not be identified as margaret river or leeuwin-naruraliste surfing region - but as surf breaks of the lower south west of western australia - with possible redirects from the earlier terms - I really think it would be good to have a chat before it goes to air so to speak - I hope you can understand my point here, The issues that i have found so far are that there are some names that dont repeat on the sources i have accessed so far...and that some of the ones near the margaret river mouth seem to be out of order on one source versus another... cheers SatuSuro 11:28, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Patrol boats

Hi Hossen, I noticed that you've edited the Australian Patrol Boat Group to read that Australia has 8 Fremantle class patrol boats and 3 Armidale class patrol boats. Is this around the wrong way? --Nick Dowling 22:31, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fleet Headquarters and Border Protection Command

Hi Hossen, I was just reading the most recent Defence media releases at: http://www.defence.gov.au/defencenews/defencenews.htm and noticed that Maritime Command is now called Fleet Headquarters (or Fleet Command - the RAN website seems confused on this topic). More confusingly, one of the stories refers to something called 'Border Protection Command' rather than Joint Offshore Protection Command. Do you know anything about the JOPC being renamed, or is this just an example of sloppy writing by Defence's PR people? --Nick Dowling 00:39, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Daily unit question

Hi Hossen, We're definetly running short of Army and Air Force articles. I think that we should keep going with a new unit per day for now and only repeat them if we absolutely have to. Like you I'm finding this to be an excellent way of improving articles and I'm currently writing quite a lot of new ones to improve our stock of articles to draw on. A lot of the current RAAF unit articles just need to be expanded to be suitable so the real shortage is in Army articles IMO. --Nick Dowling 08:02, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just to add, Army and RAAF bases are a largely untapped source of articles for this section. I think that it's OK to decree them 'units' even though they're strictly proprety. --Nick Dowling 11:48, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
