PANONIAN (talk) 01:08, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Towns of Serbia

I see you're doing standardization of format of Serbian municipalities articles—something I planned to do but never found enough time. Since you appear to be in the good mood for working on it, I'd like to point you to several more or less important issues you might not be aware of:

  1. There was/is a discussion at Template talk:Infobox Serbia whether the format of {{Serbian cities 3}} should be replaced. I think yes, Panonian thinks no, and your opinion would be welcome. Various in-between solutions are possible.
  2. There is full list of municipal locations I uploaded at commons:Category:Maps of Serbian municipalities. Maybe they're less than perfect, but they're consistent and AFAICT the most complete list. They can be automatically appended to the infobox, be it {{Serbian cities 3}} or {{Infobox Serbia}} (see the code of the latter).
  3. Check out WP:MSH#Spaces. I don't prefer one way or another, but IMO you're wasting your time on adding superficial spaces around headings. Whatever you prefer...
  4. Please add any edit sumary, at least merely as checking as "minor" edit. I wasted some time myself checking your changes :-).

Regards, Duja 10:18, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your template certainly looks better than mine (Serbian cities 3). We should migrate to it, and at the same time input the available data for each municipality. Currently, a lot of easily available information simply isn't here on Wikipedia (population, plates etc). I mean, the current template is adequate, but the new one is better. The main problem is we don't have any people from various small municipalities who are interested in adding info. Some of these municipalities don't even have a website! --estavisti 10:48, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
Now I see that the actual template is {{Infobox City Serbia3}} and it's used consistently throughout, so it should be edited further. The "make-up" is not a problem though, but:
  • "My" version had name and name_cyr arguments. That allows you to latter write [[Image:Serbia {{{name}}}.jpg]] and the map automatically gets in. That requires change of all articles though.
  • Coordinates could be a problem for typing; I think it's better solved in "my" version, but it still requires a change in all articles. Here's a full list of coordinates.
  • District is also missing. Perhaps not essential (your template now partly solves it), but a valuable piece of info.
So, the options are writing a bot, a tool like AWB, or employing a Crnac or two that would go through all articles...
Ah, yes, please reply here; I hate having to read people's discussions in two pages simultaneously. Duja 11:03, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if you can write and operate such a bot, then go for it. If not, I'll be one of the crnci who does it over a week or two. We can also update {{Belgrade municipalities}}, {{RS cities}}, and {{Bosnia and Herzegovina municipalities}}, all of which various people have based on {{Serbian cities 3}}. --estavisti 11:21, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try with AWB next week, didn't use it before. You can register for it too if you wish—you seem to do a lot of crnački jobs. Duja 13:01, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PANONIAN (talk) 14:13, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Serbization

Macedonia isn't totally different. In what way do you feel that it is not quite like your family regions? Celtmist 13 Oct 2006

Now I see what you mean. Vardar Macedonia does have a seperate identity, the only one of its kind, only if you remember, I was only referring to the period between the wars when even Vardar Macedonia's people were classed as Serbs. It was just a temporal period...hence the heritage! Best wishes. Celtmist 23:51, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: infoboxes

:) PANONIAN (talk) 01:47, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Yugoslav New Wave

--Vbb-sk-mk 23:03, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

2 Things. Lepa Sela Lepo Gore and my home town Kotor Varos

1) Stop changing things which i change, firstly, milan DOES die in the movie, Srdjan Dragojevic even admitted it in an interview done after the movie, i guess milan was taking a bloody nap on the hospital floor with his eyes open..right. And yes, i watched the movie, i wrote the ENTIRE plot portion of the fucking entry.

2) My home town of Kotor Varos seems to constantly have it's deomgraphics changed by you. Why is this? Muslim by nationality is the same as Bosniak in Bosnia, i dont understand why you cant just leave it, and what is this "See Serbs of Bosnia" beside the Serbs demographic, even though i CLEARLY incorporated that into the link for Serbs. I even directed the link to the Bosnian Serbs page.

-Answer. That isnt the "present" in lepa sela lepo gore. It is the past. His friend halil is there and the literal quote is:

Halil - "Danas smo se fino zarakijali, a?....Nego reci ti meni, Oceli biti onog rata, a?" Milan - "Kakvog rata?..bolan"

Those are the LAST 2 things said in the entire movie...mind you, halil has been blown off the top of the tunnel, Milan is in a pool of his own blood on the hospital floor with his EYES open, Brzi is dead, and milan looks like he hurt the professor pretty bad, so that is why i think that only the professor (if that) survived anything.

I realize that when he's lying on the floor he says "drekavac, jebo mu ja mater" i understand that, but after that he dies.

As for the interview, no, i dont have the transcript from the video interview he did for the movie.

Dobar dan Estavisti!

I dont want to fight with you although I really dont like you. But can you please look at what I am writing and tell me... tell me honestly...

Who started the war 1992-1995?

Because, there was a war like you know, and there must be someone who started it? Get it? And look now...

Was it we, the bosniaks, who started the war? Did we attack east bosnia by ourself and killed our people? Did we attack Sarajevo and bombard it for 3 year to make the serbs look guilty?

Answer me honestly now... who started the war? This is your opinnion I want to hear. According to me and the whole world, it was Serbia who was the aggressors but I want to hear your opinion and voice to.

Tito

Tito and popular culture sure needs to be added.

Tito was once very popular all over former Yugoslavia and the world. Under his rule Yugoslvia had no debt like Croatia, Serbia etc..have today. People had jobs, People lived well. All people living there had rights. Tito had an iron fist of rule but a fair one.

Tito was a war hero and was well respected by the world. His funeral had more people attend than that of Tudjman and Milosevic combined.

Some Serbs and Croats say he was unfair to them...he never took away any nationhood from them .Serbs and Croats were republics in Yugoslavia, both had a flag with same tri colour of today and prior to Yugoslavia, churches were still built etc....

Tito died 10+ years before the war in the Balkans..that would tell you the people were to blame not him...the people had time to make things work...the people failed...we only have ourselves to blame.

Sure Tito like all humanbeings had his good/bad points...but i would say for the most part he was good for the people.

His biggest mistake was Kosovo. But how was he to know that would happen// His other mistake was giving everyone a republic under Yugoslavia and borders.. The borders and names caused the split over time. Jagoda 1 02:36, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nikola Boskovic

Hi,

I understand your frustration with Ruđer Bošković's father being listed as Croat, but that's the fact. I know, it doesn't agree with popular opinion in Serbia, but unfortunatelly, this is definitely not an only case of such a popular belief in Serbia :).

I really don't understand why are you restarting this subject when this has been solved already, after a lot of discussion.

There is apsolutely no proof that Ruđer's father was a Serb. If you find proof, I'll be happy to se it listed under Roger Joseph Boscovich#Nationality section. You can be sure that I will not delete sourced information, if it comes from reliable source. Also, if you keep changing his father's nationality without any proof, you can also be sure that I will revert it.

I hope you understand that I'm just trying to play by the rules. --Ante Perkovic 05:10, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Ante. The subject has been debated for too long and needs to stop now.

Let's be fair Serbian origin in the article should be deleted...or made into a smaller sub note only. However, I have no problem with it aslong as it's mentioned last after Croatian and Italian. Not first. (Let's go alphabetical order ok haha and not Serb Pov)

I think if you look at Tesla article now ...Tesla being born in Croatia doesn't even get a mention and that is no lie. On the other hand Boscovich is said to Serb in the main article and no proof exsits in western media apart from Serb Pov.

I think the Croat users are being fair in this edit war.

PS. How many Serbs are called Josip? Never heard of Serb called Josip to tell you the truth.

What's up with User:Rts freak (s)he has some serious issues with what he or she is writing. Tagging images without proof, leaving unnecessary comments. I am just appalled at the actions they are taking. Vseferović 01:51, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have serious issues, as Vseferovic is claiming. Most of my edits so far on Bosniak related articles have been revrting nonsense and POV inserted into articles by User:Thunderman. None of my comments were unnecessary. And the image that I tagged was one that had been a recreation of one that was previously listed for deletion (although that tagging by me was incorrect). I think that Vseferović is just upset because I am a Bosniak who is not trying to push a nationalist POV in Wikipedia. - [rts_freak] | 5p34k 2 /\/\3 13:05, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You got to listen. If somebody has an issue they usually come to me for a fair and balanced viewpoint, since I have been the one who has been cooperative with others. However, implying that you are one of only few Bosniaks is offensive since you are claiming that all other Bosniaks will not cooperate. I have cooperated with Bosnians, Croatians, and Serbians, never encountering issues. In India you have 100 languages, 4-5 religions, many different origins...yet the Indian people stand united. All proud to be Indian no matter origin etc.... In the Phillipines most towns don't understand one another...too many dialects.

In Yugoslavia you had 3 religions and most people spoke Serbo-Croat yet we all seperated. This says a fair bit about Serbs Croats and the rest ....

What do you think? Weird when you look at the language/culture/religion/origin differences of other places in the world that Yugoslavia was broken up.

Infobox

stop vandalizing so-called "Yugoslav" articles. They do not exist once and for all, never did never will. Just look at your history books, where did you see "Yugoslavs" in the 11th century? anywhere? but you get Serbs and Croats and Muslims, but not "Yugoslavs". The article needs to be deleted. NOBODY calls themself that except one or two people in village with no radio, no TV and think is still Milosevic in power. South Serbia. Harvatov 20:05, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Odgovor

:)) PANONIAN (talk) 14:56, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Comparing {{Infobox Serbia}} with {{Infobox RS}} (which doesn't have the same problem, although it's based on Infobox Serbia) might help you get to the root of the problem. --estavisti 00:57, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Cyrillic Alphabet in Serbia

Just wanting to explain that my edit to the Serbian Language page about the official status of Cyrillic was based on this page: Serbian_constitutional_referendum,_2006#The_constitution, though I could easily have misunderstood it. The reference to the alphabet being a language though was purely carelessness. Ariasne 17:16, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PANONIAN (talk) 22:01, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll defer to you on this one then as I'm definitely no expert in the subject, and I'm trying just to educate myself. I did notice on sr wiki it is split up the way it is on here, but unfortunately I'm still trying to learn Cyrillic as well ;) Regards // Laughing Man 00:01, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I never noticed actually, thanks. Actually, I can understand the language fairly well if I hear it spoken, but for the most part only conversational language. I've never had any education with reading and writing -- hence my grammar is pretty bad. Recently I've started to teach myself and it definitely helps that I at least have a basic set of vocabulary that I understand. It just takes me a bit longer to read Cyrillic than Latin script at this point, but my goal is to be proficient in both. I figured if I'm at least able to read the language, it will improve my vocabulary and grammar the more and more I read. // Laughing Man 03:28, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Serbian ethnic cleansing

Hey, please see WP:V, which states the following:

The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth. "Verifiable" in this context means that any reader should be able to check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source. Editors should provide a reliable source for material that is challenged or likely to be challenged, or it may be remove.

You mentioned truth in your edit to NATO bombing of Yugoslavia, but Wikipedia is not here to document "truth." It is here to document what reputable sources say about any given subject. Most reputable sources, and the majority view, regard what happened in Kosovo as ethnic cleansing. The only people that seriously dispute this are Serbians, but the international community is fairly certain of what happened. Whether you like their judgment is another matter.UberCryxic 18:39, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, per your question to one of the users, I have already explained why the "alleged" part is POV. Per your precious Godwin's Law, there are people out there who deny the Holocaust happened. Are we going to say "alleged genocide against the Jews" now? No. Wikipedia calls it what it is/was: genocide (in that case). This here was ethnic cleansing. I realize this is disputed by many Serbians, but honestly Serbians are the only ones who dispute this fairly well established fact.UberCryxic 21:42, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What part of serbia are you from, I spent time in croatia as a student, I speak your language. Also do not revert things you think are correct but they are not. Any chance of new yugoslavia, why did macedonia leave?

Well, Kosovo Battle, you and some other guy are reverting and putting some non-sense about some woman paying tribute, that's ok, but not on the results of battle, it's amazing how some people do not get it. So how is life in your country, getting better?

Well I only reverted it once, his version isn't wrong, really, I just preferred the other one. As for your question, every day in every respect ;) // estavisti 23:10, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You need to watch for that page, that guy is screwy, paying homage means paying taxes as well, it has nothing to do with results, if he keeps on doing that, alert some administrator, it looks bad, what he wrote. So how is weather over there? This is what I left today: Draw in military terms, both sides lost many men, Kosovo as a whole was later occupied by Ottomans. I hate wikipedia, I waste my time, i only want few articles to be correct, in turn I only go thru personal attacks and so much, so many people play it cool here, use things like civility to back their claims, do stupid posts, etc, but play it cool, sometimes it's really hard to keep cool in return and they use that against you, but still that shows wiki complete ignorance.

Yeah, you get used to it after a year or two :/ That version seems fine to me.--estavisti 21:10, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see you had many problems here, if you only knew how many I had, wow, anyways, i will keep you informed on some things, do you know any good administrators you can trust? The ones i know here in usa are worse than pathetic...so what part of yuga r u from?

RE: Source

I can't access Kosovo.net at the moment - I think the site is down. But if you want to reference Judah, do so. Just reference him instead of an orthodox site that can kindly be described as propaganda. Davu.leon 15:06, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also the way you've edited that sentence makes it unweildy and gramatically incorrect. If you insist on adding these claims, put them in the right place, and also add the fact that the MAJORITY of funding for the UCK came from voluntary donations by the Kosovar Albanian people, both in the Diaspora and at home in Kosova. Davu.leon 15:10, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

:) PANONIAN (talk) 04:05, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Use of "Bosniam Muslims" in Pretty Village, Pretty Flame

Hi there. You reverted my changes to the article. I tryed to get a discussion going on the talk-page, but noone responded so I went ahead and made the changes. Now I at least have someone top discuss the question with.

In what way is the term bosnian muslim which is considered antiquated and, in certain situations, very offensive due to its implied religious identification, "appropraite to the period of the film"? Usually wikipedia articles refer to "Bosnian Muslims" as Bosniaks even if the individual lived while the antiquated term stil was in use. Please see Bosniak. -Betel

Estavisti, one person has no right to change them for his or her own liking. You have made that template with mentioning RS two times, even in the heading. The Vojvodina region does not even have this. Compare Vojvodina to the RS. Both are part of one single country. There is no reason for the RS template but outright provocation. Therefore let's find a consensus on this. One person cannot simply change something for his liking over night. This is why I say we need to agree upon this.
