A tag has been placed on Occam's Razor (Improv Troupe) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Deleted page

I've deleted the page because ultimately there really wasn't anything on there to show that the troupe passes notability guidelines as a whole on Wikipedia. It was also somewhat promotional in how it was written, as phrases like "the group is best known for its humorous blend of erudition and absurdity" comes across as an opinion/promotion. That there was also information on how to join the group or attend performances didn't help either. The thing about student organizations is that being associated with a notable institution does not guarantee that the organization is notable, as notability is not inherited (WP:NOTINHERITED) and being one of the few or only groups of its type in an area also does not guarantee notability. That it is a long running troupe also does not guarantee notability. These things make it more likely that something will be notable, but it is not a guarantee. Also, copying the format of other pages does not mean that the page for the troupe meets notability guidelines. Holding up other things as an example doesn't really argue for notability or any other standard, as the other page in question may also have issues with notability, tone, or promotion, meaning that the other articles would potentially qualify for deletion and just haven't been found and tagged yet. (Of course it also could be that those troupes pass notability guidelines.) Finally, I do also have to comment upon the statement on the talk page that the article would be useful (WP:ITSUSEFUL) for others in that it'd allow UoC students to get information about the troupe and for other troupes to compare/contrast the troupe with their own. That's not really a reason to keep an article since while Wikipedia pages are supposed to be useful, being useful isn't a qualification for an entry in and of itself. It all boils down to notability.

Notability can only be shown through reliable sources (WP:RS) that are independent of the troupe, university, or anyone/anything that is affiliated with them. The sources on the page were all WP:PRIMARY sources, meaning that they were sources released by the troupe or someone affiliated with them, and as such cannot give notability to the group. I did a bit of a search for sources and couldn't really find where the troupe has received coverage in reliable sources. They have received notice from the UoC's student newspaper but since the troupe is affiliated with UoC (as is the student newspaper), that newspaper would be seen as a primary source. I kind of don't see where this troupe is particularly notable per Wikipedia's guidelines, to be honest, so you'd really have to provide coverage in reliable sources to prove otherwise. At most this looks like it could probably be mentioned at the university's entry under student life, although you would probably still need to show coverage in independent RS even then.

Also I kind of got the impression from your tone that you are part of the troupe or are otherwise affiliated with them. If so, you will need to read over the conflict of interest guidelines (WP:COI), as editing with a COI can be difficult and you will need to apply more caution than many other editors since it's so easy to write an article in a promotional tone or see more notability than there may be, as you'll be entering into this with a bias. This doesn't mean that you can't edit or that the troupe can't be mentioned somewhere, just that you will need to be careful about tone and sourcing.
