WP:BLPN post

Greetings. I noticed your post at BLPN. I revered it because this isn't what we do there. You can create your own WP:DRAFT with citations and submit it for consideration. See also WP:AfC and the WP:TEAHOUSE. Cheers! JFHJr () 05:45, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

PS. If you can't find a good draft space to work in, there's always User:CalyxSage/sandbox, which you can click/tap to begin editing. Cheers again! JFHJr () 05:49, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I'll find some people online to help me out and get you a draft soon. CalyxSage (talk) 05:55, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, just written and published the bones of an article for in my sandbox. Let me know I've submitted it right, and if it's good or if there's anything wrong with it.
I had to use a bunch of sources that weren't listed at all on the Perennial Sources page, I'll just list them all here so you or someone else can go through and vet all of them (by the way, again, could you let me know how I can get some of these sources on the Perennial sources page? There are currently only three Indian sources listed as "reliable", which isn't very much, especially considering that most of these ones are very well-established and seem reliable to me).
- The News Minute (these articles)
- Livemint (this article)
- Business Standard (this page)
- India Today (this page)
- Deccan Herald (four articles I used)
- NDTV (this article)
- theprint.in (these articles)
- Oneindia (this page)

About the Annamalai draft

I've completed the first draft for the Annamalai page in my sandbox. Can you get back to me on whether it's good enough and whether the sources I've posted on my talk page are valid enough for a Wikipedia article?

Thanks CalyxSage (talk) 16:27, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@CalyxSage, good start! If you take a look at the source code (not visual editor mode), you'll see I made a few changes: 1) I used "ref name," which is probably the easiest way to reuse a reference citation; 2) I used "cite web" templates on the first paragraph (you can do this for the rest of the article); 3) I moved punctuation so that it sits before "ref" citation markup. Cleaning up citations by using templates will bring this article a long way, insofar as readers will have an easier time reading it! URLs aren't really meant to be read... Cheers! JFHJr () 19:28, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, WP:BLP articles should avoid having a section labeled "controversies" or the like. Just put the information as it belongs chronologically within his career, or wherever it chronologically fits. Cheers. JFHJr () 19:33, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For a better forum regarding sources, please copy your list of sources to WP:RSN. That's literally all they do there. JFHJr () 20:34, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent. See how nobody is THE expert or judge, but we work things out as a WP:CONSENSUS? Looks like things are going your way because you're doing them the right way. Thanks for your efforts! I know merging (suggested below) and waiting (also below) are time consuming. Since there are WP:NODEADLINES here, I'll add that I think your merge and wait results will pass at least WP:GNG even if electoral results are not in this person's favor. Cheers! Regarding your Annamalai draft - very important please read

Hi. I have seen that you have made a new draft of K. Annamalai, so please read this very carefully. As you can see from his entry in WP:DEEPER and from Talk:K. Annamalai#Page protection, a plethora of discussions have determined Annamalai to be non-notable, and due to tendentious disruption the creation of his article has been strictly restricted. Obviously as he is a current figure this consensus about his notability can change, so there is a specific path to re-creation for this subject.

  1. First, please merge your sandbox draft (User:CalyxSage/sandbox) with the existing draft at Draft:K. Annamalai so that we have one unified draft with a complete page history and that maintain the comments for the reviewer.
  2. Once you feel the draft is in a competent state (neutral, well-sourced, etc.) and you believe it demonstrates the subject's notability, you are welcome to submit it for WP:AfC review.
  3. If an AfC reviewer also determines the draft to be notable, that reviewer must then take it to WP:DRV for discussion.
  4. Only if DRV signs off on it can this be moved to mainspace.

As a personal note, I would highly recommend waiting until the election results are released on 4 June. As you may or may not know, members of parliament are among those presumed notable via our notability guidelines for politicians. Even if he loses the election, he can still be notable via our general notability guideline, but waiting a few days will ensure we have the fullest picture possible for assessing his notability.

Thank you and good work so far! Curbon7 (talk) 21:48, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've merged some stuff from your draft into the main draft that had been left out. Good work, and exceptional job identifying sufficient sources! Curbon7 (talk) 22:07, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! I'd like some clarification for what "merging the sandbox draft and the existing draft" entails. Would it be bad if I just copied everything I wrote in my sandbox into the draft? Looking at the current existing draft, the only thing that it mentions that I haven't brought up is Annamalai's visits to and positions on Sri Lanka, so should I just edit my sandbox to include that and then just Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V my sandbox into the existing draft, or is that something I'm not supposed to do?
I'm with you on waiting for the election results to come out on June 4 before putting the article up. I'd still be very much in favor of him having an article on here even if he lost his race in Coimbatore, but it would definitely be less of a hassle to wait for the results to come out and then release the article vs the other way around.
For what it's worth, I've gone over the discussions about Annamalai's notability myself before I first asked for an article for him. The article titles for him were only blocked because some guy (his username was Vaikunda Raja) was being really annoying about trying to give him an article and then did a bunch of title-gaming and stuff to try to give him an article. I'd say that the only reason Annamalai doesn't have an article is because of Raja being a nuisance, rather than anything to do with Annamalai's actual notability. I plan to make this argument to the reviewers if they ask me about the restrictions.
Thanks for the advice you've given, I appreciate it. Cheers! CalyxSage (talk) 07:36, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! Getting back to you again as the election results were just released the day before yesterday. Annamalai lost pretty decisively to his DMK rival in Coimbatore, and I've edited my sandbox to reflect this. Let me know if I should ask WP:AfC to go over the draft now. Cheers! CalyxSage (talk) 07:18, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are welcome to submit Draft:K. Annamalai whenever you feel it is ready. Simply add this code: {{subst:submit}} (including the brackets) to the top of the draft whenever you are ready. Curbon7 (talk) 06:25, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sort of forgot about this for five days, whoops. Just done the final edits and have submitted the draft for review. Thanks for your advice and help! CalyxSage (talk) 13:44, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

AfC notification: User:CalyxSage/sandbox has a new comment

I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at User:CalyxSage/sandbox. Thanks! DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:50, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'll respond to the question here, let me know if I'm supposed to do it another way.
I've looked at the Draft:K. Annamalai page and the most recent "decline" message from Dan arndt, and the main problem with it from what I can tell is that there are only a couple of sources dedicated to covering him that are from 2024, which is when he's been at his most relevant. In my draft, I've added many more sources that are from much more recently.
I'll add that from my viewpoint, Annamalai has been notable since he became the BJP state president, and the only reason his page wasn't put up earlier was because some guy was being a nuisance and title-gaming in order to get an article on him up. The way I see it, I'm not really establishing his notability, more just going through the process as it was meant to be gone through so that the article goes up.
Hope this works as an explanation, let me know if you need anything else clarified. CalyxSage (talk) 14:36, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
