The Question of the Discovery of Edge Island

The ca. 1608 chart you mentioned that supposedly shows Edge Island in fact only (vaguely) represents Spitsbergen. If the 1612 map indeed only copied its names from this chart, that would mean neither one represents Edge Island. Also, if Carolus merely copied his coastlines from earlier maps, that would mean he may not have discovered the island either. Which leads us to the island allegedly being discovered in 1616 by the English, at least according to the unreliable Thomas Edge. Jonas Poole (talk) 03:26, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
