Saw your note. As I see it, unlocking is not to be considered. User seeks unblocking under the mistaken belief that it would make them eligible to WP:VANISH. I left more on the ticket, Thanks -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 22:05, 4 January 2024 (UTC)

Joozoon

Dear Cabayi, thank you for leaving a message on my (zoozoon) talk page, and sorry for the late reply! I do have a question for you: I have written an addendum to be added to the "Shovel" article on Wikipedia. I think you can access that addendum under my sandbox. I intend to insert two pictures in that addendum. The pictures are of me using a shovel, but the pictures have been modified to the point that I look like a "generic" human using a shover! So, my question is, is it okay to include those pictures, and if yes, how would I go about uploading the pictures into my addendum? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joozoon (talkcontribs) 00:14, 6 February 2024 (UTC)

Joozoon, I think this guide is what you're looking for. Cabayi (talk) 17:37, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

RossButsy

Dear @Cabayi,

I thank you for trying to give the user RossBusty a second chance by allowing them to change their name (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:ChurCuz&diff=prev&oldid=1194710090). However, it appears that the behaviour for which they were punished has by no means stopped; indeed, this can be determined by looking at their edits and their talk page – and specifically their history on this page (as said user often removes uncomplimentary questions or observations from their page). Is there anything that could be done, if anything should be done?

Thank you,

Scientelensia (talk) 15:59, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

Scientelensia, blocks are meant to be preventative, not punitive. Other than their discussion with Doug Weller earlier today I see no recent warnings given to the user, certainly not the full set of escalating warnings that should mark the path to a block. The only link you provide is that where I renamed the user. If you wish to report ChurCuz you can do so at WP:AIV but you will need to provide evidence of their alleged misdeeds and evidence that they have been sufficiently warned.
A user's talk page is theirs to manage within some very loose parameters. I see no sign that WP:OWNTALK has been misused. Cabayi (talk) 17:27, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
I will consider this. Thanks for your help :)
P.S. I’m not suggesting that it has been misused, but that the picture portrayed by the user is somewhat misleading. Scientelensia (talk) 18:14, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

Appeal for Unblocking of User:Friday musa

Hi @Cabayi. Hope this message finds you well. I write to you with respect to the Indefinite blockage set to User:Friday musa's account on the English Wikipedia. I have been following the discussion and I have seen that it is taking quite long to resolve. I am appealing not just on his behalf but on the behalf of the Tyap Wikimedians User Group to help unblock his account as this posseses a big setback to our operations as an affiliate. Thanks and warm regards, Kambai Akau (talk) 20:20, 6 March 2024 (UTC)

Quick help request

Hi @Cabayi - I hope you don't mind my contacting you; I'm doing so becaause you come up on the 'recently active admins' list. There's an article Pumi dog that is blanked out because of an alleged copyvio, which concerns a single sentence where the wording followed that of the American Kennel Club breed standard. Unfortunately the reporting editor has placed the flag at the top of the article, rather than in the relevant section, thus removing the entire article from view. I've followed procedure and posted an amended version of the article, which deals with the matter, at Talk:Pumi dog/Temp, and I hope it's just a question of an admin copying this back to the main page and removing the flag? But this has been pending now for five days, and with the world's biggest dog show starting today, this is a period when dog breed pages always get more views. Could you or one of your colleagues kindly drop by here and take a look, please? Thanks in anticipation.... MapReader (talk) 09:08, 7 March 2024 (UTC)

Question

Hi Cabayi. Sorry for bothering you, I was just wondering if ArbCom received the email I sent two days ago and it didn't go into the spam folder? Bests. HistoryofIran (talk) 18:13, 22 February 2024 (UTC)

Apologies for the delay in acknowledging receipt HistoryofIran. We got it and it's been circulated to the committee. Cabayi (talk) 21:12, 22 February 2024 (UTC)
Sorry for bothering you again. I know you guys are busy, but do you have a rough estimate of when I can expect a reply? HistoryofIran (talk) 13:45, 7 March 2024 (UTC)

I haven't handled a usurpation so I'm hesitant to offer you an opinion. In general folks only come to renaming once or twice in their wiki-careers so there's limited value in forcing them to do it "right". On the other hand I'm reluctant to appear as a "deus ex machina" and rename a user without a visible trail. Hope that helps, Cabayi (talk) 08:53, 13 April 2024 (UTC)

Hi Cabayi, 84.92.55.233 is reinserting copyright content into that article and edit warring to keep it in. Can you help? Thanks. Nobody (talk) 09:21, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

1AmNobody24, I've just circled back and revdelled some of the copyvio I missed earlier. There's still a bunch of WP:ELNO, {{cn}}, and a large unsourced list that (imo) need attention. Feel free to let me know if the tools are needed there again. Cabayi (talk) 13:54, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
Thanks Cabayi for the quick work. I'm currently trying to understand why there's a Nick Jordan (artist) and a Jacob Cartwright and Nick Jordan article, but not sure if your tools are needed for that. Nobody (talk) 13:46, 22 April 2024 (UTC)

Username change and page moves

Hello, Cabayi,

You did some username changes and page moves for Svenskbygderna earlier today but somehow we ended up with User:Svenskbygderna which is indicated on my Quarry query as a nonexistent editor page. Was this page supposed to be moved as well? It's very confusing as this editor has changed their username several times and some of their user pages redirect to user pages for inactive accounts they previously used. I'm not sure where this one is supposed to go. Thanks for any help you can provide straightening this one out. Liz Read! Talk! 21:15, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

It's a mess because Petermgrund has gone back to a username they used previously. Page moves couldn't happen because pages already existed. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Renaming back from Petermgrund to Svenskbygderna may result in userpages on other projects being incorrectly moved. I don't see a clean fix that I can do as a global renamer. I think Peter needs to visit the user pages of each of their accounts, ensure that they point to the correct end point, and have local admins fix any problems. - Cabayi (talk) 15:16, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
Hello all,
Thank you for the message. Yes, I acknowledge that I made a mess of things going back and forth with username changes (and losing a password). I think the best thing to do is what you suggested; revisit all of the user pages for my previous usernames and make sure they point to Petermgrund.
One quick question. Can you clarify what issues may require a local admin to fix? I want to avoid causing you/me/others a headache. Thanks for your patience... Petermgrund (talk) 16:38, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
Petermgrund I'm starting to give myself a nosebleed thinking of the possibilities. So long as the userpages let folks know they're all you, all should be well. Cabayi (talk) 17:28, 23 May 2024 (UTC)

SPI request

Hi Cabayi, sorry for bugging you. After seeing your comment at Talk:Goya Menor, I'm hoping you could please take a look at this SPI [1] I opened a few days ago. The creator of that promotional article has pinged me twice on wiki and their suspected sock contacted me offwiki, all aggressively asking for NPP reviews. I would love to be patient and wait my turn in the SPI queue, but this is verging on harassment. I would really appreciate your help. Toadspike [Talk] 14:08, 23 May 2024 (UTC)

Toadspike, see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Draykaay. Cabayi (talk) 17:18, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
Thank you so much! I should've checked if a case had already been opened. Toadspike [Talk] 17:42, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
Toadspike, I'm not discounting the possibility that behaviorally it can be shown that they are all Oneboygreen. I've only probed the Draykaay connection as far as CU tools (and my poor skills with them) will let me. Cabayi (talk) 17:54, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
