{{unblock|Apologies for incorporating content that has been identified as promoting Blue Fuel Energy Corporation. I am a novice Wikipedia contributor and was not aware that referencing the corporation as we did constituted promotion of the company. My thought was that readers would want to know where the term originated and about the company that coined it. My goal in contributing the article was to inform anyone interested in alternative fuels that Blue Fuel is DME produced using renewable energy and waste carbon dioxide, and that unlike DME produced from fossil fuels, it is carbon neutral and can better help mitigate climate change. I thus propose eliminating all references to Blue Fuel Energy Corporation by replacing the original opening sentence with:

Blue Fuel is the name coined for dimethyl ether (DME) to highlight the point that this multipurpose, alternative fuel can be produced in carbon-neutral fashion through the use of wind/hydro power and captured CO2.

I also propose removing Blue Fuel Energy Corporation from the Links section— and leaving the links to the other companies and organizations. Further, I will change the user name from Bluefuelbloggers to moonduck. I am totally open to suggestions as to how we can best convey to Wikipedia readers that DME produced with renewables and waste carbon dioxide has an important role to play in reducing GHG emissions. Thank you, and once again, apologies for my lack of judgement. Bluefuelbloggers (talk) 14:11, 2 April 2009 (UTC)}}[reply]

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Accepting your request for unblocking, on condition that you apply for the name change you suggested at WP:Changing username. WP:COI is a guideline and WP:SPA is a widely-quoted essay concerning how we feel about editors who are only interested in editing articles that discuss a particular trademarked product; since "Blue Fuel" is trademarked, that's necessarily promotional of a single company. We don't want an article on "Blue Fuel" unless and until it's clear that the term is widely discussed, for instance in major newspapers, but you're welcome to continue work under the new username on dimethyl ether. No need to apologize; you didn't commit any sins, you just didn't know our policies. Happy editing.

Blue Fuel

Hello Dan, Thank you for your comments and overall contributions to Wikipedia. Further to our discussion . . . Blue Fuel Energy Corporation has no proprietary technology. It will be using off-the-shelf technology to produce Blue Fuel. Blue Fuel Energy coined and trademarked the term Blue Fuel not for its exclusive use, but for the use of any corporation that seeks to produce DME in carbon-neutral fashion. Conventionally, DME is produced with natural gas and coal, and thus has a significant carbon footprint. Blue Fuel does not. This is an important distinction that, from Blue Fuel Energy's perspective, warrants the adoption of a new term. Blue Fuel Energy encourages other corporations around the world to produce Blue Fuel using the same methods and technology as it does because the widespread adoption of Blue Fuel will mitigate global warming—and enhance air quality, among other benefits. Could the term Blue Fuel be used in a Wikipedia post if this trademark issue were clarified? As mentioned previously, Blue Fuel Energy has no desire to promote itself through Wikipedia and referenced itself simply because at this time the corporation's website is the only reference that offers an explanation of the benefits and means of producing carbon-neutral Blue Fuel using renewable energy and waste carbon dioxide. (Similar proposals have been suggested in China as well.) If you would agree to this, could this be done on a separate Blue Fuel page or on a Dimethyl page. Thank you for any feedback on this matter Dan. Alan —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.216.9.37 (talk) 21:27, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alan, if you'd like for people all over the world to voluntarily promote the name "Blue Fuel", I'd suggest surrendering the trademark to some non-profit with a solid reputation. On Wikipedia, we don't allow articles that talk about things that haven't already been written about widely, and we especially don't allow articles of marginal notability that would serve to increase the value of some company's asset, such as a trademark.
Btw, we also don't allow usernames that promote a product. Were you going to be changing your username, or simply registering a new username or editing under the IP above? - Dan Dank55 (push to talk) 22:15, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
