Kochi

Your contribuitions to Kochi related pages are appreciating. But ur contribuitions to vytila page looks like an advertisement. Please go through it.

--Bijuts (talk) 13:20, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Bijuts. I checked it. Did you get confused between my contributions and that of others? May be there are problem in my own work too. Why dont you attempt editing on it? Or at least tag the places where you find problems. Always another person's perspective is necessary to make a work clean and perfect. And that is how wikipedia work. So, why dont you put in your effort too. That'll be appreciated. Thanks. Austria156 (talk) 18:49, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

Regions of Kochi?

Hi. Just letting you know that I started a discussion about this category at Wikipedia talk:Noticeboard for India-related topics#Problem_with_regions_of_Kochi.3F. In retrospect, I should have asked you directly... Best, Pichpich (talk) 23:01, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Pichpich. Your concern might be true. Having two different categories for the same thing. But when I created the Category:Regions of Kochi, there was specific reason why I did so. Category:Neighbourhoods of Kochi contains place names which are not really part of Kochi, and Category:Suburbs of Kochi city contains places which are part of downtown Kochi. The problem here is that editors from Kerala mistake 'neighbourhood' for something outside but on the periphery (a notion followed from a neighbouring house, among non-native speakers of English) of the city rather than within the city. Also the word 'suburb' is not really followed by many editor who are non-native speakers of English. So I wanted to avoid the ambiguity. It was in good faith. But if other editors feel that the categories should be merged or that one of them be deleted, then let us go ahead. I would like to see opinions from more editors, and particularly those from Kochi. Anyway, thanks Pichpich for your help. A third-person perspective always help in situations like this. Thanks. Austria156 (talk) 23:14, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi Austria. I was just cleaning up my watchlist wondering why I had User talk:Austria156 on it. Oh that's why! I forgot about this Kochi thing. :-) I think you're in a better position than I am to fix this: you know what you tweaked in the articles and you can request the deletion of the category. And like I said, I don't know squat about the city, or Kerala or (to a large extent) India: I just feel that the category should go because its name is very misleading. August 15 Budget

You update in the page of August 15 needs review, especially the budget. As reported by the major section of the media, August 15 is a low budget film, whose budget is 2.5 crore (25 Million) and the print and publicity cost another 50 lakhs (5 Million).

The budget of 7 crore for the film as per your update is not correct, the information given in the source seemed to be inaccurate. The film August 15 is made to compensate for the losses the producers had due to the debacle of the film Drona.

So, request you to review the edit, and update the content from the sources that more reliable.

Thanks,

Sreejith, I do not know what the budget of the film was. Even, I believe, you dont know it. Because neither of us did work on it. You used a reference to prove it was 25 million. It is quite possible that it is true. But you quoted only one reference. I searched throughout the web to find yet another source which asserts the figure and found none. So please try to get one more source saying it is 25 million and we will fix on it.

A word on film budgets. In India there is no way we could ascertain the actual budget of a film. Because there is no formal book keeping. It was true that Drona was a flop (and it was a nonsense movie too). But it is unbelievable to hear that Mammootty did a film free of cost to compensate for the loss of a previous one, when he is nearing the end of his career. (As far as I know him, he will compromise anything, but money). So as a whole your source is unreliable. It has claims which are just rumors. Also, I know that August 15 is a low budget film. So were all the CBI films, and even August 1. And the figure 25 million is more real sounding than 70 million. And I dont want to glorify Mammooty inflating the budget figures of one of his films. But we need reliable sources. So please find one more source and we will fix on 25 million. Until then we have one source saying 25 million and another saying 70 million. One of them makes some unreliable claims. So we have no other choice, but to fix on the other. That's it.

Thank you. You were nice enough to discuss this instead of getting into an edit war. That is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

My intent was only to have wiki page with a more realistic information, rather than one with someone's fantasy, which have some fancy numbers. Any how, we will wait till we have another source with a different number may be 30 Million or 50 million :).

I guess, we may get some more sources when half-year box office analysis are out. i will leave the numbers as it is.

TTYL.

Thanks,

GOCE drive newsletter

Invitation from the Guild of Copy Editors

The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their November 2011 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. The drive begins on November 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on November 30 at 23:59 (UTC). We will be tracking the number of 2010 articles (and specifically will be targeting the oldest three months), as we want to copy edit as many of these as possible. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copy edits more than 4,000 words, and special awards will be given to the top 5 in the following categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". We hope to see you there! – Your drive coordinators: Diannaa, Chaosdruid, The Utahraptor, Slon02, and SMasters.

Proposed deletion of Santhosh Pandit

I have added a {{db-repost}} tag to Santhosh Pandit, as it has been deleted twice at AfD and I would like an admin to decide if the article is the same as the one that was deleted under consensus. If that is declined, I would recommend taking this article back to AfD, because judging from recent comments on the talk page, deletion of this article is not uncontroversial. —KuyaBriBriTalk 15:28, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

Thanks KuyaBriBri. Eventhought I do not have access to those previously deleted versions, doing a research on the edit history suggests that the article has grown far better than the previous versions. The issues raised earlier were different (lack of proper references and unestablished notability). The present question is niether of these. Hence I am putting this up for AfD without waiting for the {{db-repost}} verification, believing that this procedure is proper. I would expect your assistance in the future too. Thanks once again.Austria156 (talk) 12:44, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

Autopatrolled

Hi. Following your request, I have accorded autopatrolled rights to your account. There is no need for me to explain here what that is. I was particluarly impressed by your eclectic mix of India related articles. Can we sign you up as an Online Ambassador for the India Education Programme? --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 14:39, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Kudpung กุดผึ้ง. Nice comment :) About being an 'Online Ambassador', when I read about it at the links you have provided, I feel I could do that. So how do we go? Do I place an application at Wikipedia:Online_Ambassadors/Apply? Could you please guide me? Thanks once again. Austria156 (talk) 20:24, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
Best person to talk to would be Danger, he's a very active amb for India. I'm not sure what their immediate programmes are. Tell him it was my suggestion, you'll have no problem being accepted - most Ambs have nothing like your experience. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 14:18, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Kudpung กุดผึ้ง. I'll do that. Austria156 (talk) 14:28, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

speedy

Your application of a db-bio tag to V. V. Ranganathan was not correct. The article very fully asserts importance, and in fact, the individual is almost certainly actually notable. It's true the article is extremely spammy/ Did you perhaps mean to place to db-spam tag. It is not really self-promotional enough for that, and since I intend to fix this, it won't be when I've finished, but it would at least be reasonable to think it might be.

I remind you that passing a7 requires only an indication of importance, and this is a very weak criterion , deliberately much weaker than actual notability. It might help to review WP:CSD; the criteria there are, as the page says, interpreted narrowly. DGG ( talk ) 22:16, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Thanks DGG, I know that. The problem was I couldn't find a db category that perfectly fits this situation. I'll now go for an AfD. Thank you for your guidance. Austria156 (talk) 22:30, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Regarding Online Ambassadors

Thank you so much for your interest. The pilot is winding down but there is a need for help on reviewing content by students. While this is not the conventional and sole role of an Online Ambassadors, would you be interested? If so, happy to send you further details. (We are already in touch on email.) Hisham (talk) 06:42, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Hisham. You have my reply by e-mail. Austria156 (talk) 15:06, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
