Changing names

Hi Arghya! I noticed you have been changing names on Pan American Games articles. If you are expanding the name please be sure that the name redirects to the athlete article. For example, you changed Silvio Leonard to Silvio Leonard Sarría. This was a red link so I created a redirect by clicking the new red link and putting #Redirect [[Silvio Leonard]] on the alternate name page. It is very important that the article links still point to the athlete articles - please do so in future. Thanks! SFB 14:45, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Also, please check that the name you are introducing is the correct one. Here you changed a gymnast's name to the name of the footballer called Eric López. Please take care in your editing. Cheers. SFB 15:20, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I have finished reviewing your edits and I have a couple of recommendations. In terms of names it is good practice to: 1) when linking use the article's title on the page, 2) an article's title should be most commonly used name in the referencing (i.e. not normally full legal names), 3) make sure that each article has redirects from the alternative name to the article itself (as with the Silvio Leonard example above).
Also, when creating new articles (as you did at Roller skating at the 1991 Pan American Games), don't just dump the text. Put the information into sentences, or tables if appropriate. Otherwise, the page will likely be deleted and your information will be lost. Hope this helps! SFB 16:10, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Roller Skatong at the 1987 Pan American Games – Women's Events requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.), but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. --Forward Unto Dawn 11:38, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I merged the material into a single article, see above. Bearian (talk) 18:30, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article Inline hockey at the 1999 Pan American Games has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Trivial and non-notable. Fails WP:GNG. Also see WP:SPORTCRIT. Unsourced. Full of redlinks and broken templates. Created as part of a large swath of pages by a single user who has since left.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
