A tag has been placed on Alumniclass.com, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 16:57, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do not remove CSD tags from articles you have created yourself

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles, as you did with Alumniclass.com. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page directly below the deletion tag. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 17:07, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Alumniclass.com

A tag has been placed on Alumniclass.com requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 17:32, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that the article on "alumniclass.com" should be kept on Wikipedia because it is a fast-growing social networking site that consumers need to be aware of, for better or for worse. It's competitor "classmates.com" has a link on Wikipedia, and I don't see any reason that "alumniclass.com" should not have a link. It is not meant for advertisement, it's meant for awareness. There are no direct links to the website throughout the article, and there is note of it's competitors. There are links to thorough technical information on the website and the demographics it covers. There are also links to the type of tools the website uses technologically, giving the reader more insight into how a social networking website works. The content is valuable because it helps those researching alumni websites become more aware of the pros and cons of using alumniclass.com.

WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is not a valid argument. Classmates.com passes Wikipedia's notability criteria, while Alumniclass.com did not. Please read Wikipedia's general criteria for inclusion of notable subjects before submitting material, so you don't wasts alot of time on something that won't last. Cheers and happy editing! - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 18:16, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
