Hello - Please tell me, why do you keep deleting all the content on this oage that has been there for so long and tells petinent information about this artist? You have reduced the page p that had bio info - to a few words that says hardly anything. In fact, it seems that you are vandalizing. Thanks and all the best.

Wikipedia has rules. Have you ever read any of the documentation? If you click "View history" on any article page, you will see the reasons for edits. Briefly: Articles are supposed to be impartial. Every sentence must have a proper citation from an independent, reliable source. Wikipedia has definitions for all of this. What you wrote was a love letter. That's not what belongs in an encyclopedia. We want facts only, not opinion or cheerleading or promotion. Is it possible that I know what I'm doing? Have a nice pandemic day.

Hi Vmavanti - Thanks for your reply. I certainly do not want to go back and forth with you - me restoring what I am sure should be there and you deleting what you are sure shouldn't.

I did not write this page. I am simply trying to make sure that an artist I greatly admire and whom many others I know and know about admire, gets the information about him represented on Wikipedia.

With all due respect, your tone here sounds somewhat condescending and rude. Perhaps I am mistaken? Furthermore, the information about Kiermyer has remained on his page for months and years. All you've left us is that he is a drummer ;-)

Since you are obviously an expert in Wikipedia editing and spend a lot of time here, please tell me, how can we work together to fill out more information about this musician so we both feel comfortable with how he and his music are represented accurately and well here?

As you might, I know a whole lot about jazz music. I also know quite a lot of Kiermyer's history, because I am such a fan of his music. I know that the facts about Kiermyer were completely accurate and worthwhile. Example: When his media attention was cited, I know of reviews and articles in Rolling Stone magazine, Entertainment Weekly, etc. These are major mainstream entertainment news outlets that do not normally give attention to jazz, let alone adventurous music such as Mr, Kiermyer's.

So, let's work together to edit the presentation of the info tht was there to com,y with Wikipedia rules. I am happy and willing to work under you guidance to accomplish this.

Thank you and All the best - Ngatokpa

You have given me your opinion about the "tone" of my post. You have not addressed the substance of my post, such as: Do you know what I mean by impartial? If you are a fan, that makes it hard to be impartial. Have you read our documentation? We have rules about notability, which is one way to determine whether there ought to be an article about a subject. You feel this musician is important. But that's not the standard we use. Many "important" subjects never appear in Wikipedia. That's one reason it seems you have not read our documentation. Start there. It is up to you to follow our rules. It is not up to me or anyone else to accommodate your desires. That's how it's done. If it seems rude to you, I don't know what to say about that. To me it is rude to expect me to bow to your wishes. It is rude to continue to revert the edits of an experienced editor, then to ignore his comments after they have been explained.

When you say "our documentation" do you mean that you belong to a group that I do not belong to? That s what is implied by your language here. That is rude sir. Obviously I have not ignored your comments as I am responding to them. You are giving your opinions and I mine. I am under the impression that Wikipedia is based on a democratic model. I will restore a previous version and cite sources for everything. I do not think that you are more capable of deciding who or what gets presented here than I or anyone else. Asking tio collaborate is completely in the spirit of Wikipedia. Saying I am asking you to "to bow to your wishes" is absurd. Thanks.

"Our documentation"=rules of Wikipedia, such as Wikipedia:Notability, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, Wikipedia:Verifiability. If you restore a previous version, you will receive another warning about vandalism. I suggest you spend some time reading links such as the ones I provided before you do any more editing.

Thanks for your reply. Restoring a previous version is not vandalism, as far as I understand Wikipedia's definition, but I will read the links you've sent and try my best to adhere to Wikipedias rules. Ngatokpa (talk) 07:31, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
