A user from this IP address removed content from Orange (word). The user left the edit summary, "Inaccurate information with linked citation that directly contradicted the text." I presume that refers to the short etymology in the cited Oxford English Dictionary, "A borrowing from French". The full etymology, however, traces the word back from French through Italian, Arabic, Persian, and Sanskrit to "a Dravidian language", at which point the trail becomes less clear. OED compares Tamil and Tulu (possible) cognates, but as the Wikipedia article mentions, there are also possible cognates in several other Dravidian languages. If that's the case then please add a citation or reference to a credible source that can corroborate the information. The Oxford Dictionary did not say anything about "a Dravidian language" but it was cited regardless. The Oxford English Dictionary does say "a Dravidian language". In fact the part I quoted above in my edit summary is actually copied and pasted (with just the removal of one stray close-parentheses) from the OED Online. That is the source cited in the article – though I'm afraid it is behind a paywall, so you might not be able to access it easily. I'm not sure if you are looking at an abridged Oxford dictionary (perhaps Lexico?), or if you missed it, but the currently cited source says just that.
