Jilin University of Finance and Economics used to name Jilin Institute of Finance(May,1978) Changchun Tax College(May,1992) (simplified Chinese: 吉林财经大学; traditional Chinese: 吉林財經大學; pinyin: Jílín cáijīng dàxué; often abbreviated JLUFE or 吉财大)Jilin University of Finance and Economics is a Provincial key university in Jilin. Under the joint construction of People’s Government of Jilin Province and the State Taxation Administration. [2] Jilin University of Finance and Economics now has over 18000 registered students, with 11649 undergraduate students, 1160 master students and 31 foreign students.[3] Jilin University of Finance and Economics was the first financial institutions for higher learning since the establishment of PRC, and the very first post-secondary financial school in the People’s Republic.[4]

Located in Changchun, the capital city of Jilin province in Northeast China, beside the Jingyue Tan National Forest Park. The picturesque campus covers an area of 1,080,000 square meters, whose construction is committed to “natural, elegant, extensive and profound” with over 300,000 square meters having been completed.[5]

As of May 2014, the school has two humanities and social science research bases in Jilin Province[6]

  • Institute of Low Carbon Economy

And one Provincial Key Laboratory

  • Logistics Industrial Economics and intelligent logistics laboratory.[8]

Scientific research

  • As of May 2014, the school has three research was awarded Outstanding Achievement Award China Academic Humanities and Social Sciences.[9]
  • On Jilin Province's 8th Outstanding Achievement Award in Social Sciences,Jilin University of Finance and Economics win 17 outstanding social and sciences achievement awards, which 4 are in writing (one first prize, one second prize, two third prizes) , 13 are in research papers and consulting,(one first prize , six second prize, six third prize).[10]
  • During 2006 to 2010, the professors published more than 1700 Journal articles, 123 published books; 188 provincial projects.[11]

History

  • In July 1946 the university started as the cadre’s training class by Northeast Bank in Jiamusi.
  • In March 1950 the class moved to Shenyang and renamed as Northeast Bank Cadre’s School.
  • In July 1950 the school moved to Changchun in preparing to Northeast Bank School.
  • In September 1950, Northeast Bank School established as the very first post-secondary financial school in the People’s Republic.
  • In December 1952, the school renamed as Changchun Bank School under the jurisdiction of the People’s Bank of China.
  • In September 1958, Jilin College of Finance and Trade was founded as the earliest Chinese undergraduate school in finance and economics.
  • In November 1969, Jilin College of Finance and Trade dissolved.
  • In August 1970, the former Jilin College of Finance and Trade merged several technical schools and Jilin Province Finance and Trade School was established.
  • In May 1978, Jilin College of Finance and Trade was resumed under the approval of the State Council.
  • In May 1992, Jilin College of Finance and Trade was subordinated to the State Taxation Administration and renamed as Changchun Taxation College, which was the first and only Chinese undergraduate school in taxation.
  • In March 2010, Changchun Taxation College was renamed as Jilin University of Finance and Economics under the approval of the Education Ministry. [12]
