Restorative window glazier, constructive overseer, and interested handyman by day. I have no affiliation with the companies or products I write and edit articles about (when the subject of the articles or edits are of that nature). I live in Michigan and my Wikipedia account's time zone is off and shows the wrong times so my edits and page creations aren't true to my current time. Lol.

Wiki Journal Entries June 2024

June 17 2024 part 1: Tried Wiki editing for the first time ever on this day. The first thing I did I was trying to add information for MinWax, a constructive materials company but wasn't able to find much, just one source which I added then moved on. The page doesn't even look sufficient enough to be on Wikipedia in all honesty. I tried to make a page for a similar company, Abatron, but there is not enough information out there at all to make a page. I have no affiliation with either, just experience. All sources for both companies, if linked, look like advertisements for the companies. These types of things are so prevalent in my life I forget how specialized they actually are. So I ceased editing MixWax and abandoned Abatron as a Wiki project altogether because there's not a lot of use to try. I thought for my first Wiki articles those would be good choices because I have experience with their things as somebody who does construction (which is really boring) but it made sense to me. It didn't really occur to me until being on here that the articles I can write aren't limited to what I know or have experience with. And hey I am learning a lot.

June 17 2024 part 2: Karol Meyer, a freediver came up as one that needed editing. I could not find a lot of information but I did add a source. That's all I could do. I started and "finished" my draft for Corveta Ipiranga V17, a shipwreck. I got the idea for making the page because Meyers was the first diver to "touch" the shipwreck. I hope to continue with the article and make it better. Thank you all for the helpful advice. I'm very glad that it seems like it might have enough notability. I plan to add an image to it if I am able to. It's really not all that interesting of a topic on the surface but once you look into it it makes a new world for you? I guess? Fernando de Noronha off the coast of Brazil sound like a very interesting vacation now. New things are coming up that I'd never think to think about or be interested in.

June 18 2024: Took a break from Wikipedia writing (and work on this day) and I visited my dad for his birthday. We had dinner and then for old time's sake we went through his old VHS tapes. I told him I started doing Wikipedia pages and he said it made sense for me. I'm on the spectrum and my specialty is writing and doing construction type things gets old sometimes. Lol. I feel like I'm out of hobbies and I'm enjoying this.

June 19 2024: I had found an old skateboarding VHS while going through my dad's collection yesterday called Board Crazy. I decided to try to try to write a Wikipedia article for it after watching the VHS online. I became super intrigued by that one because I couldn't imagine my dad liking something as much as skateboarding but he was really good back in the day, he said. So I watched it trying to understand it through his eyes. Lol. I'm not sure if there's enough notability, it seems kind of underground insofar as media goes but it was still fun to write. The director I'm not seeing much about him but I'm sure he's got stories out the yang. I plan to look him up and try to write an article about him if I can even find any. On a cursory search I could not find much. Board Crazy uses the song Love Buzz (Nirvana's cover), the version recorded by Sub Pop records, Nirvana's first single. I am interested in learning about Bruce Pavitt the founder of Sub Pop because I'm wondering how they swung that with Board Crazy for how underground the record is. I'm not really particularly interested in skateboarding but the lore surrounding this as well as the subculture is pretty interesting.

June 20 2024: I again took a break from Wikipedia. It seems as though I am doing that every day. I am now trying to before starting articles do more research. I have been reaching out to people in a new interest of mine sparked in another offshoot project of the one that I am doing currently. Another very helpful user suggested that I try for a conglomeration list article of Shipwrecks in Brazil rather than just focusing on one ship with a little bit more limited information. That article might take a minute to compile so for now I think I might focus on these kind of "smaller" yet I think interesting enough articles. I have found out more information by getting in contact with some folks and one with a lot I am interested in. He shared old magazine articles with me and it's a whole new rabbit hole to dig into. I think I am going to make a Wikipedia article about him because it's very interesting how far this person has come in their life and how different their life looks and how different the things they are doing now than from when Board Crazy was written. It's very interesting and I'd like to share with Wikipedia.

June 21 2024: I am now beginning to work on another offshoot project of the one I'd just been working on with more information I found randomly. Also the prior entry I did make today. ***Continuing on, it seems my article for Board Crazy was declined. I am not really surprised about it that much. I have found a related but different yet kind of related topical interest that may bring enough notoriety to mention the VHS on a little bit more of a higher forum. I was able to mention it in Love Buzz however I think it'd be cool to find another way to mention it and I think I have. Here goes all I have thus learned so far. Thank you for the feedback and help, everybody.
