Mission

Global Playground's mission is to raise awareness and share resources with people of the developing world to create educational opportunities where they do not exist.

Locations

Currently, The Global Playground has partnered with other organizations to fund projects in Cambodia, Honduras, Thailand, and Uganda.

Cambodia

In conjunction with American Assistance for Cambodia, Global Playground built a five-classroom school for middle school students in the country’s Kandal Province in the fall of 2007. The school is maintained by the Cambodian Ministry of Education. [1]

Honduras

In May 2010, Global Playground and its local partner, Students Helping Honduras, opened a technology center to serve the youth of Las Brisas and Villa Soleada, two communities near El Progreso. M an effort to connect children in developing countries with the rest of the world, Global Playground has chosen to partner with Students Helping Honduras (SHH) in order to build a new learning center for impoverished children in El Progreso. For $45,000, Global Playground funded the construction of the center itself, as well as eight computers, educational software, and broadband internet. The technology center serves over 200 children.[2] File:Children in Honduras.jpg

Thailand

In the fall of 2008, Global Playground partnered with the Samsara Foundation to fund the construction of a new library for Huay Puung Mai School in the Mae Hong Song province of Northern Thailand. The $13,385 that was raised afforded the school a new building, tables and benches, bookshelves, and books. The school offers primary, middle, and secondary education to students, many of whom are from remote villages.[3]

Uganda

In spring of 2007, Global Playground partnered with Building Tomorrow[4] and raised enough money to begin construction of a school in September 2007 in the village of Buwasa, Uganda. Construction was completed and the school opened to students in December 2008. The school serves 325 children in Buwasa and five other neighboring villages.[5]
