Theresa Wong (born c.1972), also known as Theresa Visintin, is a Singaporean-born Australian actress, television cook, and graphic and website designer.

Early life

Wong was born in Singapore. Her family moved to Toronto, Canada before relocating to Sydney, Australia where the family lived in the Northern Beaches district. Her parents owned restaurants at Brookvale, Dee Why and Collaroy. After finishing school, Wong completed a Certificate in Fine Arts at Seaforth TAFE followed by a Certificate in Graphic Design at Enmore Design Centre.

In 1991, Wong was discovered by a casting agent and auditioned for a role in Home & Away, for which she was nominated as Best New Actress. Wong went on to appear as an ongoing character in a number of television series, together with single appearances in many other programs.[2][3]

MasterChef

On May 2016, after returning to Australia, Wong (now known as Theresa Visintin) gained a place in the Top 24 contestants in MasterChef Australia 2016. She was joined in the competition by her Singapore-based brother, Jimmy Wong. They are the first siblings to compete against each other in the program.[7]

Three days after her selection, Visintin cooked one of the worst three dishes in a "mystery box" challenge and had to participate in an elimination challenge on the following day.[8] Prior to the elimination, she fell and injured her arm.[9] Her dish was judged sufficient to avoid elimination. On 30 May, Visintin was eliminated from the competition after preparing a poor afternoon tea challenge.[10] Subsequently, all of the eliminated contestants were invited to cook-off for one place as a returning contestant. Visintin won the challenge and returned to the competition.[11]
