Rafael Lange Severino[2] (Carazinho, february 11th, 1997[3]), also known as Cellbit, is a creative director,[4][5] streamer and youtuber known for solving enigmas on his YouTube channel, and the creation of the tabletop RPG series Ordem Paranormal, held on Twitch.

Personal life

Cellbit was born on the city of Florianópolis, Santa Catarina[2], on february 11th 1997[3] but was raised in Carazinho, in Rio Grande do Sul. He has two older brothers, Henrique and Felipe. His passion for puzzle games and enigmas started at 9 years old, when his brother, Henrique, introduced to him the game Notpron, known as "the hardest enigma on the internet".[6][7] Henrique and Rafael, in less than a year, were able to solve 139 out of the 140 levels available at the time, getting stuck on the last one for years.[7]

In a Q&A video, Lange revealed his distaste for sharing his personal life publicly, since he found it unnecessary and would rather focus on his projects and creations.[6]

Career

2012–13: Beginning of his internet career

At 15 years old, Rafael Lange began posting videos on his second YouTube channel, CellBits (posteriously changed to Cellbit). By 2012, Cellbit had published machinima style Minecraft videos. Soon after, he kept his channel focused on gameplays of Portal 2. He later returned to Minecraft content, but with a different format. At the time, Cellbit and his family faced many financial hardships, specially considering his mother inability to work for the time being due to personal reasons.[6][7]

2014–15: Career peak

As of 2014, Rafael began constantly posting gameplay videos of Garry's Mod. Later on, he stopped producing single games' gameplay content at all, focusing on playing random games in a saga format, such as "Fugindo da Escola" (Running away from school) and the flash game Gênio Quiz.[6] At the time, Cellbit was known online for his loud laughing and screaming, which many internet users saw as fake or forced.[8] Lange reacted to the statements by saying that, in actuality, his screams and laughs were somehow faked in certain situations, with the intention of making moments that weren't as appealing or funny funnier (as a matter of entertainment), however, his genuine laugh was naturally loud.[6][9]

2016: Content switch

At 18, Rafael Lange got his first tattoo done so that he could, according to himself, simbolize his independence[10], and moved from the countryside to the city of São Paulo.[11] Simultaneously, he shifted his content, leaving gameplays aside to focus on more serious topics. During july of 2016, he posted a video criticizing the Minecraft community in Brazil. The video went viral quickly and earned Cellbit the title of "youtube's judge" for a while.[12]

In a video titled "CELLBIT ESTÁ FICANDO LOUCO" ("Cellbit is going insane", in english), Rafael revealed having anxiety disorder.[13]

2017: First role as an actor

In february, Cellbit debuted as an actor at the movie Internet - O Filme, taking the role of Paulinho, a Street Fighter proplayer that hides under the identity of a youtuber.[14]

As of july, Lange published his first video of the series "DO NOT BELIEVE HIS LIES", about a puzzle game with the same title. The game had a narrative of its own and was never completed by anyone, being discontinued in 2018. The youtube series earned Lange the title of "the enigma guy" online.[15]

2018–present: Career as a streamer and new projects

In 2018, Lange started constantly making livestreamed content on Twitch, "leaving" youtube. He got known quickly on the brazilian Twitch community and became one of its most popular creators, reaching over 3,3 million followers on the platform.[16] left|thumb|Ordem Paranormal webseries promotional art. In february 2020, Lange initiated his first RPG campaign called "Ordem Paranormal RPG". During april of the same year, he created its second season, "O Segredo na Floresta RPG".[17][18]

In october 2020, Lange announced the campaign of the third season of his RPG series by the name of "Desconjuração" and, along with it, a crowdfunding campaign for his game project Ordem Paranormal: Enigma do Medo, made in partnership with the indie brazilian game developer company Dumativa[19]. The goal for the beginning of the production process was of 500.000 reais (roughly 100k USD as of 2024) in 60 days. The initial goal was reached in 5 hours of its launching on the platform Catarse.[20][4] The crowdfunding got to its end at 846% of the initial goal, accumulating over R$4 million (roughly under a million USD, as of 2024).[21]

In september 2021, Cellbit announced the 4th season of his RPG, called "Calamidade"[22]. In november of the same year, he announced his first book called "Rule Book - Paranormal Oder RPG[23].

In july 2022, Lange launched three new spin-off seasons of his main project, the first one being "O Segredo na Ilha" and was initiated a week after its announcement[1]. Furthermore, it was announced that a comic would be made featuring the first season of Ordem Paranormal. [2]

In october 2022, the 2nd spin-off season of Ordem paranormal, began, called "Sinais do Outro Lado".[3]

In september 23rd of 2023, the third spin-off of Ordem Paranormal was announced - "Ordem Paranormal: Quarentena", featuring international content creators such as Roier, Quackity, Baghera Jones and Foolish, as well as brazilian creators, being the first season that reached international proportions, being later nominated for The Streamer Awards in the Best Streamed Series category. [24]

In february of 2024, in a Twitter post, Cellbit revealed being asexual as well as having been through many situations of abuse and trauma in his past relationships. He did this as a response towards, according to him, false, informal accusations of sexual abuse by his former girlfriend, Flávia Sayuri Gato.[25][26][27][28] Cellbit then sued multiple people due to the publishing of 217 internet posts that, according to him "attributed, objectively, criminal offenses [towards him]".[28]
