Mark Okoye (also known as Mark Okoye II) (born 15 June 1986) is a public service official and state cabinet member in Anambra State, South East Nigeria and currently the Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners since March 2016.

Personal Life and Education

Okoye was born in Lagos State, Nigeria. Okoye is married to Philippe Mark-Okoye. The couple both have one son, born in March 2017. He was educated at Atlantic Hall School from 1997 to 2003. Between 2005 and 2007, he attended George Washington University, USA and graduated with a degree in Finance.

Banking Career

He was previously a senior associate at Afrinvest Limited. During this time, he was the managing director’s principal assistant in analysis.

Political Career

Okoye has served his state in two administrations. He has been Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners under the administration of Governor Willie Obiano since March 2016 and was Senior Special Assistant to former Governor Peter Obi on investments.

Awards and Honours

Okoye is the recipient of The Future Awards Africa Prize for Young Person of the Year 2016.[3][4] In 2017, he was mentioned as one of the Most Influential People of African Descent under 40.[5] He was the winner of the 2017 Junior Chambers International Awards for leadership and governance in Nigeria.[6][7] More recently, he was selected for the 2018 Obama Foundation Africa Leaders Program.[8][9]
