Equipo Sirius was an independent Spanish publisher that was part of the Bibliodiversidad movement of publishers specialising in popular science. Its catalogue covered titles and subject areas for all levels, from university education to children and young people.

History

Founded in 1985 in Madrid by Jorge Ruiz Morales, its first activity was the publication of the magazine Tribuna de Astronomía, now called AstronomíA. First published in December 1986, the magazine is no longer owned by Equipo Sirius and has been published by another publisher since January 2013.

Its main characteristic is that it publishes authors from the Spanish-speaking or near-Spanish-speaking world, scientists, technicians and popularisers, who are interested in conveying an accessible, educational and enjoyable idea of technological science.

Publishing activity

"El Sol y el sistema solar" by José Luis Comellas was the first book, published in 1986. The book "Historia de la astronomía amateur en España" was published in 1987, reflects the work of amateur astronomers in Spain and the role of women in astrophysics.[1] In 2001, the team took over the management of the first magazine dedicated to genre fiction, 2001, which was renamed Galaxia in its second period. In 2003 it won the European Science Fiction Society's prize for the best publication in fantasy literature.
