The Chathamite Whigs (or Chathamites) in 18th century British politics were a faction of the Whigs led by Earl of Chatham, from the early 1760s until his death in 1778, and thereafter by the Earl of Shelburne. The Chathamites were the leading element in governments from 1766 to 1768 and again from 1782 to 1783, yet were otherwise in opposition to the various administrations formed during this period.
