User:Tomas e/List of protected traditional terms for wine

Source: Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Within the European Union wine regulations, a number of traditional terms for wine are legally protected, much in the same way as Protected Designation of Origins and Protected Geographical Indications are.[1] One difference is that many traditional terms are used in several wine regions, or sometimes in more than one wine country. The use of traditional terms covered by the legislation is limited to the regions or countries in which the respective term is listed as traditional, and may not be used by wines of other origins when sold inside the European Union. Some terms may also be protected outside the European Union by bilateral agreements.
