Vogue

The first issue of Vogue was published on 17th December 1892. Socialite Josephine Redding was hired as the first editor. One of her tasks was to find a name for the then weekly newspaper. According to rumours, Redding browsed a dictionary until she found a name which she thought fitted the publication. She settled on 'Vogue', a word then used to define something which is in fashion or popular at a certain time. In addition to fashion related articles, it featured the cultural tastes of upper class Victorian society such as their love of music[2]>.
