Revealed on stage and also by the channel Canal+ in the late 90s, they impose themselves in the cinema with three school comedies – La Tour Montparnasse Infernale (2001), Double Zéro and Les Dalton (2004) – then the experimental films Steak, by Quentin Dupieux (2007) and Seul Two (2008).

They meet again in 2011 for Halal police d’Etat, by Rachid Dhibou, and in 016 for La Tour de contrôle infernale, directed by Eric Judor alone.

Story of the double act

Beginnings and revelation

Eric and Ramzy meet at the end of 1994 in a Parisian bar.

Eric was logistician at Bouygues, after being travel companion in the USA and in Canada. Ramzy was clothing seller at Galeries Lafayette.

Very quickly, they start writing sketches and look for Parisian theaters to perform in front of an audience. In early 1996, they made their debut at Bec Fin, a small Parisian cafe-theater with fifty seats. They also played the first part of the show of Gustave Parking. Then, they played in bigger theaters: the Trévise Theater, the Café de la Gare.

The duo made his radio debut on Fun Radio late 1996, several Saturdays at the end of the evening, then the Eric et Razmy Show is broadcast daily from 7 to 8pm. On this occasion, their team grows exponentially since they are joined by Fred « The Humorist » and Vincent « Tout seul », host of a « very local » radio, since he’s the only auditor. It is at this moment that the game of spoonerism, which is actually not, is born, the ancestor of Les Mots d’Eric et Ramzy.

At their debuts, the two humorists use a lot word game and spoonerism. Their passages in the cinema make them evolve towards a more visual and scenic register, but they keep their two founding pillars of their humor: nonsense and cretinery. Most of the time, Eric play the role of the idiot while Ramzy is more lucid.

They stated TV in 1997 on M6 in the show Les Mots d’Eric et Ramzy with sketches of about 3 minutes based on paronyms. In the same time, they occur at the Splendid, then at the Palais des Glaces and thus, they will make a tour of 130 dates.

TV success and cinema

Afterwards, they played a part in the sitcom H, released on Canal+, from 1998 to 2002, where they embodied a nurse and a stretcher bearer, next to Jamel Debbouze who embodied an operator. Ramzy will tell that he could earned 15 000 euros per day of shooting for that series. This program is an unqualified public success and dictate his main character as young key values of the communal comedy.

In 2001, while they completed the shooting of the fourth and last season of H for Canal+, the duo is on display in the movie ''La tour Montparnasse Infernale (Don’t die too hard in Canada). The movie is produced by Charles Nemes, and which for he participated in writing the scenarios. The movie, in which they embodied two fool window cleaner who countered a hostage taking of board members of the company Lanceval, is in fact a parody of Die Hard. He contrasts the combination of the slapstick humor of the duo, and the extreme violence of the hostage takers. Certain scenes parody daring moments of famous action film, as Le jeu de la Mort (The game of Death) or The Matrix.

In 2002 and 2003, he hosted a new radio program: Le Zyva Show on NRJ, every Saturday and Sunday as from 7PM to 9PM. Their time of broadcast were shorter than their program, they had to use of their sense of improvisation (way of improvisation) to ensure dialogues, short sketch, or parody.

In 2003, they also appeared in the Kad and Oliver TV show, which was Samedi soir en direct (inspired by Saturday Night Live) and also in Pecan Pie with Jim Carrey, a short film from director Michel Gondry.

In 2004, they produced a television series Les Nicole, and are again main characters of a second film Double Zero, which is a parody of the James Bond movies, in which he embodied a secret agent who face up Edouard Baer. The movie was produced by Gérard Pirès.

Later, in December 2004, the movie Les Dalton released, movie in which Eric and Ramzy embodied Joe and Averell, two of the fourth brothers Dalton. We will note that this movie is one of the rare movies where we can see Ramzy with hair. The movie attracted more than two million people despite a bad press and mass opinion. This third movie which is like the two others marked the end of a cycle.

Indeed, when they came back in 2007 on screen, they incarnated main characters in the movie Steak from Quentin Dupieux. This movie was a public fail because it was introduced as a popular comedy, whereas it was actually for a more experienced public.

At the end of the years, they came back to a youngest public with a cartoon series for Canal+, Moot-Moot. This one shows a family of sheep, Eric redubbed the voice of the father and Ramzy of the mother.

The June 25th, 2008, they followed on the progress of Steak and revealed Seul Two, their first movies as screenwriter/director. That movie has been successful with 940 468 entrance at the cinema. In contrary, to share the stage production has been a fail and created unnecessary tension between those two. They decided to take step back but unfortunately, their privet life was damaged too.

Separate projects and return to the roots

Thus, while Ramzy continues to be actor, and he played in Il reste du jambon? in 2010 where he was directed by his wife Anne Depétrini. Eric, created, developed, and produced his own series, Platane for Canal+, and that brought him on a new creative and tragic-comic style. Ramzy will appear in some episode of the second season of the program, broadcast on 2013.

At the beginning of 2011, they worked together for the comedy Halal police d’Etat, produced by Rachid Dhibou, and made more than 750 000 entrance at the cinema. In 2016, they released second movie La Tour de controle infernale, and this time only produced by Eric. And it is also a parody of Die Hard, but the second.
