Tyquan Jamal Robinson (born April 2, 1996) is an American musician, social media personality and businessman. Robinson is the founder and CEO of the independent record company Degenerate Entertainment and the founder of the SBC management company.[7]

Robinson participated in track & field and played American football while attending Queens High School for Information, Research and Technology, going on to to attend ASA College a year after graduating from high school. He graduated with a 3.0 GPA and received his Associate's in Occupational Studies in Business Administration-Accounting 16 months after enrolling into the institution. During his time in the school, he developed his independent record label , after partnering with the online distribution company Distrokid.

After partaking in several community projects and internships, Robinson began to become a public figure and personal brand for himself. His early work included music and entertainment, which then evolved into public service and local government. He was subject to both praise and criticism as he continued to make and break relationships with various individuals, some of which involved other public figures. Robinson has made several appearances in local news outlets and has consistently drawn attention from online media outlets. He has also been in the spotlight for his unpopular opinions on social media, as well as for his work in his hometown of Far Rockaway.

Early life and education

Robinson was born and raised in Far Rockaway, New York. He was brought up in a single household after his father was incarcerated shortly after his toddler days. His mother married another man, who she ended up having Robinson's younger sister with. The couple got divorced shortly after, which forced him to become the man of the house and help take care of his autistic brother and younger sister at a young age. During Robinson's adolescent years, the family moved from place to place after his mother decided that they needed better living conditions. After getting homesick in the process of adjusting to the slow-paced culture of Richmond, Virginia, Robinson's mother decided to move back to New York, where thet temporarily stayed with his grandmother at her home in Long Island. The home got crowded and overwhelming, which provoked Robinson's mother to take their belongings and temporarily move into a family shelter located South Jamaica, Queens. After taking an aptitude test to enroll into a new school nearby, the Department of Education was so impressed with his score, that they placed him in an advanced elementary school located in the suburban areas of Jamaica, Queens. They would move once again a couple months later after Robinson's mother found a new home in the East New York area of Brooklyn. While attending school in Brooklyn, Robinson got into a lot of trouble due to the roughness of the Brooklyn culture. He was even sent home for smashing another student's head into a lunch table repeatedly after being bullied everyday by the student. The family was once again forced to move back with Robinson's grandmother in Long Island after the house collapsed while they were away on vacation for the Thanksgiving holiday, due to the outdated infrastructure of the home. The family being away was fortunate, since the home collapsed from Robinson's younger sister's room. During his fifth grade year, Robinson and his family eventually ended up back in Far Rockaway after his mother was granted a NYCHA apartment shortly after. The family has lived in the home ever since

Robinson attended school in Long Island after moving back with his grandmother and transferring from his school in Brooklyn. He had a hard time adjusting, due to the predominately white demographics, but his cousin who also attended the same elementary school made him feel more comfortable. He was often teased and perceived as "ghetto" because of his migration from Brooklyn. He eventually began to make friends after sharing mutual interests with certain students like football and watching wrestling. After graduating from the elementary school and transferring to the nearby middle school, Robinson began to experience racism and racial profiling. His language teacher often punished him for his Caucasian friend's actions and gave him detention for every day for one semester. Though Robinson became a problem child on the campus. He participated in several extracurricular activities such as chorus and drama. He was also anticipated to be one of the major players on the football team before making a decision to transfer to middle school in Far Rockaway at the end of the school year, after moving out of his grandmother's house. Even though Robinson has hardships with race, he was not prepared for what middle school in Far Rockaway had in store for him.

Robinson spent seventh and eighth grade thriving to make it out of the dangerous and explicit conditions of his middle school in Far Rockaway. He witnessed sex, drugs and violence all around him, while attending the school. He was often seen as quiet and timid, which other students seen as a weakness and led to him him getting into a fight with a known bully, who attempted to jump him after school shortly after. Robinson was defended by other students who respected his willingness to stand up to the bully. Robinson used his desire to played high school fotball as motivation to get out of the school. He eventually graduated with an impressive report card and chose Queens HS School for Information, Research and Technology as his high school, which was one of three schools located on the Far Rockaway Educational Campus. He played football all four years of high school, but didn't see the field much until his sophomore year, due a back injury he suffered after getting hit by a car the Halloween of his freshman year. He played a major role for the team, serving as the starting tight end for the rest of his high school career. Robinson graduated in 2014, but decided to take a year off before pursuing his college studies at ASA College in the fall of 2015.

Business ventures

In April 2015, Robinson formed a partnership with online distribution company Distrokid to launch his own record label Degenerate Entertainment. Robinson was influenced to partner with the company after doing research for a college assignment and coming across a Forbes article about how two teenagers became #1 on the iTunes charts after launching their project independently through the company. He believed that it was the only way to maintain his education and college career at the same time.. His first studio album was set to launch under the partnership, but he felt it would be smarter to release singles with other artists to bring it streaming royalty revenue for everyone. Fellow rapper and Aoften collaborator Giovanni "KingYungGio" Gates also partnered with the company, with both artists receiving exclusive promotion from the Spotify streaming service.

In June 2016, he released his Fame Worldwide merchandise brand, and went to collaborate with the likes of Nike. Six months later, he tapped into sports to begin managing up and coming student-athletes.

In June 2018, Robinson was nominated for the Forbes Under 30 list, which he plans to campaign for throughout the summer.

Personal life

Robinson is the oldest of eight siblings. He identifies as African American, but has Puerto Rican origins from his mother's side of the family. He is often perceived as very driven and family-oriented. Robinson often shares his admiration of figures such as Kanye West and Nipsey Hussle.

In an interview with his media venture The SBC Network, he gave insight on a line from his song "Back Down" where he raps "I'm a brand, not a thug", stating "I’m a voice for the streets, even though I’m not in the streets. I could relate to the hustler mentality that most individuals in the urban community have."
