Pure Instinct is a men's fragrance by English footballer David Beckham. The limited edition scent was released by Coty, Inc. in April 2009. With a "perfect blend" of elegance and sensuality, Pure Instinct is a fresh and characterful fragrance. It was designed to be "the ultimate accessory every man needs".^[1] For the scent, Beckham wanted to create an elegant fragrance that would "work for the individual, whatever his style". "I've enjoyed the process of working with Coty and I hope it's a fragrance men enjoy."^[1] It includes top notes of pomelo zest, black pepper and cardamom; heart notes of silver sage, rosemary and lavender and base notes of tobacco leaves, oak moss and cedar wood heart.^[1]

The Essence

The Essence is a men's fragrance by English footballer David Beckham. The scent, which was released by Coty, Inc. in August 2012, joined his existing scents David Beckham Instinct (2005), Homme (2011) and Intimately Beckham (2006), a his-and-hers collection with his wife Victoria Beckham.

Reception

Kieran O'Mahony of the Cork Independent cited The Essence as being Beckham's best fragrance. He stated it is "certainly oozing a masculine but scented eau de toilette". "The tones of grapefruit and violet leaves combined with patchouli heart and tonka bean gives a striking scent that will last with one or two sprays. What is particularly nice is the bottle which has an engraved graphillage texture that certainly stands out from the crowd. A definite must have for any man who likes sexy yet subtle tones."^[2]
