Launched in January 2011, the cross-platform online educational campaign is anchored at EveryBodyWalk.org and aims at getting Americans up and moving. [1] The walking hub contains news and resources on walking and combines a website property with social networking presence, a free mobile app and media partnerships with multiple entities in the non-profit and corporate realm. [2]

At the centerpiece of the Web site is a series of short video vignettes featuring average Americans and motivational stories about how walking has changed their lives and lifestyles. The videos on www.everybodywalk.org are intended to be shared with family, friends, neighbors, colleagues and anybody else. New videos are added to the site each week. [3] The project will culminate in a 30-minute documentary on the health benefits of walking, which will be accessible online.

Published in November 2011, the Every Body Walk! app, available from the Apple Store or Android Market, helps walkers track three workout elements: time walked, distance covered and calories burned. The app uses a GPS to establish a walker's location and identifies walking paths from an online database. Users can create a personal walking history, earn badges for reaching walking goals and share their walks on Facebook.
