Scott Weiss Is a best-selling author, artist, philanthropist, and the President and CEO of Speakeasy Incorporated, with offices in Atlanta, New York, San Francisco, Amsterdam, and operations in Bangalore, India. In 2014, Weiss won the Axiom Gold Medal award for ethics with his multi-award winning title DARE! – Accepting the Challenge of Trusting Communication. Weiss is the Founder and Chairman Emeritus of the T. Howard Foundation, founded in 1994 and based outside of Washington D.C. The organization places over 100 internships annually for minority college students in the multi-media and entertainment industry, and some 50 interns annually are placed into permanent jobs at such companies as Viacom, Time Warner, and Comcast Corporation. Weiss currently sits on multiple Boards and has been instrumental in driving change nationally on transparency, trust, and the importance of work force readiness. A native of Detroit, Michigan, Weiss has a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University. His wife Marci of 29 years are the proud parents of three adult children.

Weiss is a frequent blogger and conference speaker on trust and transparency in leadership. His commentary and articles have been featured in Forbes, Fortune, CNN Money, and Investor’s Business Daily. Weiss is also a frequent guest on radio talk shows, and national and international webinars.

Weiss is credited with Speakeasy Inc’s incredible expansion, from a small boutique firm in 1994, to a global enterprise serving 350 clients companies on 6 continents. Tens of thousands of executives have utilized speakeasy’s communication methodologies since 1974 and driven them deeply in their corporate cultures, including EY, Accenture, The Coca-Cola Company, Visa, and Microsoft.

DARE: Accepting the Challenge of Trusting Leadership is a non-fiction book about the advantages to being a trusting leader in business, as well as the disadvantages to being dishonest. DARE was written by Scott S. Weiss, CEO of Speakeasy Inc., and was published on April 2nd, 2013. The book has been featured on Forbes.com, WSJ radio and Sky Magazine. DARE was also ranked number 44 on Amazon’s top 100 on April 10th, 2013 and was named a finalist for the 2013 International Book Awards in the category of ‘Best Business Management and Leadership Book’.

Summary

In his book, Weiss talks about how he is unsatisfied with the current footing of American business. The book dares executives and leaders to embrace honesty and to take a walk in their consumers’ shoes for a change. This process allows leaders to visualize what their customers’ specific needs are so they are capable of improving general satisfaction. According to Weiss, “business as usual” is no more in this day and age. The book is full of informative case studies and examples that help paint a picture of this leadership approach.

Early career

Before joining Speakeasy in 1994, Weiss spent ten years at Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.(Time Warner) as an Executive Vice President in charge of satellite distribution for all the Turner networks and Corporate Vice President of Special Projects. He also started Turner Private Networks, a Division he established where he was credited with creating several new business ventures including CNN Local Edition and the creation of the CNN Airport Channel.

Prior to Turner broadcasting, Weiss served as Senior Vice President for Southmark CRCA, then a multi-billion dollar investment banking concern.

Artist

Weiss is also established himself as a nationally recognized artist. His large impressionistic abstracts on large canvases have been distributed for more than a decade through LivingByDesignArt and can be found as part of numerous private collections in homes throughout the United States.
