TRADITIONAL SNACKS OF AHMEDABAD

BACKGROUND

Ahmedabad (also known as Amdavad), is the largest city located in Gujarat. It is the former capital of Gujarat. It is one of the largest and important economic and industrial hub of India. The people of this city are known for their unique style of doing business. It is known that business runs in blood of almost all the Amdavadi. It was also known as CITY OF MANCHESTER due to its large mill it has for production. It has developed with time and has many malls and multiplexes. It has many old markets like Gujari Bazaar etc. Amdavad is known for its Gujarati food culture. It is very famous for its delicious Gujarati snacks which are world wide famous snacks. It has many khao galis (street food market) like Manek Chowk, Vastrapur, CEPT khao gali etc. Its cuisine mostly consist of pure vegetarian dishes.[1]

DIFFERENT SNACKS OF AHMEDABAD

Ahmedabad is popularly known for its famous Gujarati food culture as well as for Gujarati dishes. The kind of sweet taste is present in almost all its items. Gujarati people generally eats rice, bread, vegetable curry known as shaak , farsaan, sweet and butter milk as their meal. They cook their breads in different forms like simple wheat roti, thepla made of methi, spinach , gourd etc mixed with wheat flour, milk and spices, puri, bhakri and puran pohli which is sweet in taste. They use large amount of ghee in the preparation of their meal. It is also famous for its dal dhokli, undhiyu, sev tomato shaak, baigan barta. Their food is blend of several spices and flavours.[2]

Ahmedabad is also famous for its Gujarati snacks. It has different types of snacks cooked in a very different snacks which are very mouth watering. It is blend of delicious dry snacks with mouth watering hot snacks served with sweet.[3] Its famous popular snacks are:
