The Boustany Foundation is a private foundation based in Monaco whose mission is to contribute to the advancement and preservation of mankind[1].

The aims of the foundation are to help with the educational, sportive, cultural and artistic development of deserving individuals, as well as to ensure the moral and physical protection of abandoned children or children in need.

History

The foundation's activities can be traced back to the 1990's[1]. In 2006, the foundation was officially established in Monaco[2] by Nabil Boustany, a developer[3], and former Lebanese politician[4][5].

Activities

The Boustany Foundation is active in a number of fields including education, healthcare, supporting children, and the promotion of tolerance and peace.

Some of the foundation’s most prominent activities include its scholarship programs with Harvard University and Cambridge University. Every other year, a scholarship is offered to an MBA student at the Harvard Business School, and another one to an MBA student at the Cambridge Judge Business School. The financial aid packages amount to $80,000 and £20,000 (respectively). The MBA scholarships are offered to students of any nationality but preference is given to Lebanese nationals[6][7].

The foundation also offers a full-tuition scholarship every three years to a PhD student pursuing research in Astronomy at the Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge. The scholarship is available to citizens of any country outside the EU[8].

Scholars must spend an unpaid summer internship at the foundation's offices in Monaco and Cambridge scholars also gain membership to Pembroke College, Cambridge.

On the humanitarian side, the foundation offers grants to several organisations such as the World Association of Children's Friends, the Princess Grace Foundation, Association Monéguasque des handicapés moteurs, Mission Enfance, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, Monaco Disease Power, and Fight Aids. Those partners are actively involved in a number of causes such as helping children in need, providing healthcare to underserved populations, and promoting sustainable management of natural resources[1].
