Creandum is a venture capital advisory firm based in Stockholm, Berlin and San Francisco.[1] It was founded in 2003[2] and has backed close to 100 innovative, technologically-driven start-ups and software platforms, including well-known companies such as Spotify, iZettle, Klarna, Kahoot, Depop, Small Giant Games and Bolt.

Partners

Creandum’s General Partners are Staffan Helgesson, Fredrik Cassel, Johan Brenner and Simon Schmincke. Carl Fritjofsson is a Partner based in San Francisco and the Operating Partner is Daniel Blomquist. Previous General Partners include Martin Hauge (2004–2015) and Stefan Lindeberg (2003–2009).

History

Creandum was founded by Staffan Helgesson in Stockholm in 2003[12], before which Helgesson was co-founder and the Managing Partner at Startupfactory[13]. In the same year, Fredrik Cassel joined as an Analyst and was later promoted to General Partner in 2010. In 2007, Daniel Blomquist joined the firm as Associate. He was later promoted to Partner and is now Operating Partner; he was previously Vice President at Ascade.[14] In 2010, Johan Brenner joined the firm as General Partner. Prior to that he had spent nearly 5 years as General Partner at Balderton Capital (previously called Benchmark Capital Europe)[15], was General Manager at E-Trade Europe and was President of Investment at Kinnevik AB.[16]

Brenner opened up an office on behalf of Creandum in San Francisco, USA in 2013 to help European founders expand to the US and win this market. In 2016, Simon Schmincke, who had previously worked for Earlybird Venture Capital joined and opened an office in Berlin, Germany.[17] In 2020, Schmincke was promoted to General Partner.
