Maelstrom Music PR is a music publicity firm based in Seal Beach, California.[1] Founded in 1998 by A&R and publicity veteran Curtis Smith,[2] the firm specializes in music placement, song plugging, online music marketing, public relations, and music A&R.[3] They work almost exclusively with independent record labels and musicians, such as Matt Farr and Wild Carrot.[4]
Overview
In October of 1998, Curtis Smith decided to leave his A&R / publicity work at labels such as Interscope Records to work on publicity for independent bands. He founded Maelstrom Music PR and began running the company full time.[3][5] They have recently grown into a source for A&R representatives from record labels, also working as a network of booking agents, band managers, radio promoters, manufacturers, and distributors.[5] They specialize in music placement, song plugging, online music marketing, public relations, and music A&R.[3]
Ron Laureano, a public relations graduate of California State University, Fullerton, also works at the firm.[6]
Location
The company is located at Seal Beach, California[1] in the greater Los Angeles area.[3][2]
